Crafter's Support where???
In guild shops, there's a head honch that will make you pay, and a guy who gives free cheesy support, pay the 150gil for a modest boost to sucessful synthing. Booyaaaa. I knew something, take that anji!!!
But this still would make me very sad, and anger my staff hand.
In our wake will be smoke fire and burnt charred remains of those that have fell before us, We will not remember their names, as they are no more, the next challenge, the next horizon is what we strive for and Demand it be met with Ferocity, We Grin at the Possibility of death, Fear no Mob that walks Vana'diel or it's Realms, there is no tomorrow, there is only now, For pride, for honor, for Glory We are The Knights of Pegasus.
Because 6 fire crystal you'd need 15 total to make one cluster.
One fire crystal as catalyst 1 + 6 fire crystals as ingredients = 7 total crystals to make 1 HQ
One fire crystal as catalyst 1 + 6 fire crystals as ingredients = 14 total crystals to make the second HQ
One fire crystal as catalyst 1 + 2 HQ crystals to make 1 cluster = 15 total crystals.
If you want it easy this would be the best route at 1 lost.
One fire crystal as catalyst 1 + 5 fire crystals as ingredients = 6 total crystals to make first HQ crystal
One fire crystal as catalyst 1 + 5 fire crystals as ingredients = 12 total crystals to make the second HQ crystal
One fire crystal as catalyst 1 + 2 HQ crystals to make 1 cluster = 13 total crystals.
It's a loss of one crystal per stack but I think that would be acceptable.
The second one could just be HQ fire crystal as catalyst + HQ fire crystal = 1 cluster. No loss.

Those ideas to combine crystals into clusters using synthesis are all far too cumbersome.
Can't use synergy for it, because crystals are a fuel source.
Using NPCs to convert is cumbersome too, since you can't use them when needed and usually require walking across Vana'diel.
That leaves us with an inventory item.
Crystal Fuser
Upon use, it will show the light crystal synth animation, and all stacks of 12 crystals in inventory are converted into 1 cluster.
Crystal Fuser could either be a non-charge item like Magian Spectacles, a 1/1 reusable like Portafurnace, or something like a 30/30 charged item that requires crafting skill to make (and thereby boost the economy.)
Crystal Fusers could be created by combining all 8 different clusters using synergy.

"Puppetmaster was our last best hope for peace. It failed.
Now it's our last best hope.. for victory!"
It doesn't even need to be a an item at all. It could just be a key item that allows you to fuse all normal crystals in inventory with a command.
I'd rather it be a quest for a key item as something that you can own that's not -1 inventory or something like synthesis where you can combine them without extra items.

Giving the Ephemeral Moogle the ability to convert all (Single and or stacks) Crystals traded to receive those in Clusters, Thanks guys you have answered the call! Very nice.![]()
I don't see the point if you have to visit an NPC for it since you can just go to the ephemeral moogle to store your crystals, if you're out in the field farming them and just wanna turn them into clusters to free up space to farm more I can see the point, so I'd be able to get behind it being a low level crafting recipe requiring 1 crystal and 11 of the same crystal as the recipe to make it.
