Coming back, do i need to rebuy the expansion packs?

Rejoining the game after about a year and on a new computer. I've re-installed playonline and the main FFXI, but i cannot figure out where to re-download the expansion packs. i had bought originally the ultimate collection (up to wings of the goddess) and then later bought the abyssea add on as well. do i need to buy them again to get them back? *blushing that i dont know this already* thank you for your help!

If you do not have any of the expansions on disc you will have to buy them all again. Best bet would be to just uninstall what you have and buy the digital copy online of the new Vanadiel collection which has everything up to date for expansions. This will also be saved to download anytime you need to reformat etc... as long as you keep the email that has the download link.

If this is what you reinstalled, then you're completely fine. Just make sure everything is lit up on the FFXI title screen.

You have up to the WotG on disc for installation, which is all you physically need--the rest gets downloaded with the updates and unlocked with the registration code(s).

So, if you are getting the same character reactivated you should be fine provided you had everything activated when you left (same codes would be applied). If you are having to put in new codes, then buy the DLC version to get the one universal code that unlocks all the content. May still be worth it to go ahead and download the package though, as it will have the newer POL installer and what-not...can archive it all off on a DVD in case you need it later.

Note that may be a snag for you--the POL installer. Forget exactly when they started packing the Vista/Win7 compliant POL with the collections. If you have issues with what is on your collection disc, might have to download the newer one from the POL site or use the DLC package for your install.
