    maybe I'm being a total idiot but... couldn't you just like get rid of summoner avatars auto attacking and have done with it lol? then perhaps actually move onto something more worthwhile that many people have been looking for? xD

    It may not be my place to say this however, I would like to hope that if the FFXI team REALLY has the time to complain about what most anyone with common sense would consider to be a relatively small issue xD

    Not to mention the reality being that it's a fault not in the player base but a fault that is part of the actual game and job design lol. xD

    Then maybe just maybe they would be able spare a little time on behalf of the player base aka paying customers lol xD to focus on some of the bigger issues like lets see the savlage overhaul that has been promised since god knows when lol? or how mythics are a vastly unreasonable task in comparison to relic and emperyian weapons

    Also if the XI team has time enough to complain about and resolve an issue so small then couldn't they do something worthwhile for the player base like give us new areas an expansions which is something the player base has actually been wanting for..... god knows how long. xD

    oh well xD what do I know xD

    I wouldn't say key, but it's definitely a very useful convenience. What SE should do is a lot simpler. Nothing. This is absolutely no issue, to anyone, ever. The time SE took to even write that news entry is time completely wasted. Nothing has ever been so much of not an issue as this.

    guessing you didn't spend a lot of time fighting/soloing mobs on SMN that have huge AOE, enhanced movement speed, extreme fast cast traits, etc.....various characteristics where the pets natural instinct to auto attack is very beneficial (if not virtually critical) to success? This is also useful in party setups as well, not just solo, though it is most beneficial to soloing and was an extremely important mechanic when SMN where reduced to nothing but a cure-spam battery in parties for years and pretty much had to solo if they wanted to use their avatars outside of specific strategies for burn parties or things like CoP NM fights.

    So yeah....if you've seriously played SMN for more than 2 years, pet auto attack was a fairly key aspect of the job.

    Agreed, I didn't consider that, even though I made use of it myself on Cactrot Rapido a few times just a while ago. I guess I just didn't give it much thought.

    better? lol :3 SE gets rid of smn auto killing in ... wherever it is they do this ... players keep this dynamic for solo and party play

    /sigh... All they have to do is change the spawn placement of chigoes in Grauberg (S). The "problem" is that their spawn areas are fixed around bushes in the area. All you have to do is stand near a bush and chigoes are guaranteed to spawn on top of you and aggro.

    SE wanted to be cute and have the chigoes "hide" in the bushes and attack from there. People figured out that these things have a tiny spawn area, drop fairly decent stackable loot, and are easily killed by a high level avatar. Hmmm.

    It's obviously more harmful than the actual 'bots' and other such... but oh well.

    They could just do what they usually do, remove the loot or lower the price of them somehow to make it not worth it (well, I guess removal is the only way to make it not worth it since when no effort is being put into it, even 1 Gil is profit).

    I find it a little bit strange that they had to announce this. I'm sure there are players who never even thought of such a thing, but now know about it (counter-productive). Similar to when they added Moogles that everyone could see to ask players not to use sploits (while cute, the players who do not cheat and use 3rd party tools would not have known about the particular exploit if they did not read about it somewhere, or if the Moogles weren't there to inform them).
    The thing with that is, if players couldn't even exploit it without using 'cheats', why not ban them, why just warn them? It makes no sense. Already the fact that you needed sploits to even see it, should have been enough to outright banish the accounts of said players. Not to mention what they did with the feature itself was obviously wrong.

    That is of course a lot different from this particular issue, where no third-party stuff is needed. Perhaps they could add something like an avatar time-out, if you're not moving or doing anything else within a certain amount of time, the Avatar will not automagically attack foes? ^^;

    Obviously, most people would get around that with 'bots'.

    I guess truth be told dragoys thought is proably friendlier than getting rid of auto attack on (as I've later corrected to be) mobs you've done NOTHING to XD and if you're not properly playing why do you care if your avatar doesn't do jack shit lol unless well ... xD

    Actually though what I think what I really feel is as above... I guess I just ended up blurting out the thing about summoner auto attack in fustration >< feel free to burn me if it actually gets implemented lol.

    And cammie even though I've opened this can of beans I respect your point about the problem being with smn and not mobs ><;;; as well as other peoples concern regarding change >< it always does seem to end up being for the worst lol <.>;
