With the last update, it seems that there are still some creative ideas that go towards inflicting misery on the players, forcing adaptation. Loved Rani's rapid -damage taken increase, Raja's subjob restricting Royal Decree, and Pantokrator's retaliation 2hrs.
However, other NMs left something to be desired (Final WoTG boss using AoE weakness and death like other NMs, though glyphs were unique) and the fact that brew bypasses most of the pain kind of lessened the implementation of these moves. With the abyssea era ending and players complaining about lack of difficulty, this is the perfect time to introduce some truly debilitation status afflictions/monster behaviors, barring any ps2 limitations.
As such, this thread will be dedicated to coming up with new ideas on how to make some fights interesting without resorting to old gimmicks like meteor or doom->terror.
To start things off, the following two major status effects would make both fulltime-gear players and blinking-christmas-tree players rethink their stances to a little bit of both:
Encumberance (Special) - Gear is locked and can't be swapped or swapping gear inflicts damage+penalty of long duration regular encumberance
Transmogrification - Attributes and status effects are altered/reversed (+4 str is now -4 str, regen acts like poison, etc) (Would've been a brew killer, make some more gear situationally useful, and forces at least removing gear)
Other less interesting, but still painful debuffs thought up:
-Main Job Restriction (May cause problems if SJ was never unlocked)
-Demi/doom/death spikes -Inflicts 50% hp dmg/doom/death upon strike
-??? spikes- can put anything as a spikes counter honestly
-Magic atk/def down DoTs, similar to bio/dia
-Battlefield auras, similar to the glyphs (both good and bad, affecting both mobs and players)
Stupid ideas, that probably shouldn't be implemented or suggested:
-Competely awkward/excessive NM behavior (NM only hurt while someone nearby is using an emote like clapping, anything related to "properly" killing AV/PW 1.0)
-Additional effect: death (Oh wait, this was already implemented)
-Requires 1 job at a specific moment of the fight (see above)
I like facing the pain, but make it reasonable. Last thing we need is another undefeatable NM.
