so ive decided to level up puppetmaster, and my gear build looks like this: http://www.ffxiah.com/item-sets/256180
what should i be looking into getting for a second earring, a cape and a H2H weapon?

also im not really looking to getting Vere unless someone can put up proof that vere is gonna out do everything else.

For the earring, see if bruiser's earring will give you the next h2h tier. If it does, it will be the best option. If it doesn't, i'd just use an attack earring like aesir ear pendant. For the backpeice, rancorous mantle. Pantin cape if you're in a situation that you don't want to take the +10% damage.

In my experience, Vere is the best weapon to be using. VS itself is similar in damage to SP and SS, but the aftermath will pull it ahead. So the WoE path h2h wep is a waste of time. But if you're against making a Vere, a str path h2h used with stringing pummel or shijin spiral won't be too far behind. I prefer SS over SP, however i don't use pup on high def mobs like VW.

Decent for TP set, since PUP cannot use Atheling. As Dragonlord said, other mantles will be better for WS.

I also agree that brusier's would probably be best. As it stands now, PUP doesn't really have a good second earring.

I am not 100% sure on this, but the STR H2H or Occ. Attacks twice. H2H seems to be the top two for PUP now. I have a verethragna, and while it is useful, VS does considerably less damage than Stringing Pummel outside of abyssea. So, for endgame content, just use SP or whatever the new one is that I haven't bothered to merit, with a magain H2H.
