These methods of forcing one to focus on a single job go against the core game design seen throughout the rest of the game.
If I could "like" this post a hundred times, I would.

Every time they add something new in this game that forces me to prioritize one job over another, a little piece of me dies. The new Weaponskills are a good example (though a lot of the other merit categories are as well).

I fully support this idea. Or actually something similar to that.

Something along the lines of the original Final Fantasy job upgrade "quest", which was getting the Rat's Tail from the Citadel of Trials as proof of your courage for Bahamut.

But for FFXI, it can be a quest that is a continuation/conclusion to each job's storyline.

Personally, I would LOVE to level up my jobs again, especially the ones I truly enjoyed leveling back in the day. Frankly, I think it would revitalize the game, as long as SE implements it right (i.e. you cannot level transcended/upgraded jobs in Abyssea until Lv. 75 lol @ AFK leeching from Lv. 30 to 99)

And one final note. For those who have posted that say something along the lines of "no one likes leveling", speak for yourselves. No one person can speak for the whole of the FFXI community. I find it laughable that some people here seem to think they speak for the entire FFXI community when they post. Most likely they're trolls, but still....

Its a nice idea to become really good at 1 job. Some specialization would be nice. I like it vs the level every job and be good at everything.

-edit- I wasn't entirely serious about the thread, either. I blame it on boredom before work.
To be honest lol, I don't know how people can enjoy non strategy situations and grinding xp for hours on end lol. It's your preference, but I have never enjoyed xping, and if they did this, that would force me to redo samurai and such just to be on pace with the other good DDs lol. Not worth it to me to do something alot of people truly don't enjoy. They made xp faster for a reason haha >.<

The only part of exp I wasn't fond of was the process of waiting or building. There just never seems to be that one archetype that's really needed .-.

And for the record, GoV parties give pretty awesome exp. I leeched a friend from 30-45 just poking around trying to get a rancorous mantle for another friend. I think the pages ended up giving ~2.5k each.

If you want to level your favorite job again you could always kill yourself many many many times to delevel to level 30

OR you could upgrade your WAR to GLD (Gladiator) and become megapimp DD once you get it to 99. Trust me, you'd do it.....

Love this Idea, and after transcending you'd get a new job title like White Wizard instead of White Mage, I would also be supportive of needing more exp to reach 99 then the first time

I like the idea of a slightly better job with this method but I will be honest, I hated lvling lol. The first job I lvled in XI was BLM.

Back then the PT was set up with 2 DD's that could Skillchain a WHM BLM a Tank and, depending on the lvl range, either a RDM or another DD. When Skillchan and MB went out it was 3 DD's a tank a WHM and a RDM or another DD again depending on lvl range. Also those DD's were limited to WAR SAM DRK for the most part. DRG was frowned upon in XP same with MNK. THF was a fav cause of the SATA (mainly if you had a NIN tank) and pulling.

The point is that it would all just be this type of thing again when it came to lvling. Most jobs would have to solo and an xp hike would suck for those jobs. I love my jobs but there is no way I would solo lvl most of them up again if the TNL XP was hiked up again. (I say again because back in the day it was alot more to get to 75 lol)

I didn't solo any of them to begin with lol. I got lucky and lvled BLM when it was still used in a PT set up.
