EXP requirements double or triple to level, and the final outcome is slightly better combat/magic skill and slightly higher base stats. To make it slightly more appealing, add a special job trait/ability/spell the second time you reach 99.

Transcending can only happen once per job (i.e. you cannot level to 99, transcend, level to 99, transcend, etc), maybe capping the amount of jobs you can transcend at 2-3.

On the same note, perhaps nerf Abyssea exp for transcended characters until ~90 so it forces people to repopulate a lot of the older zones to do fields/grounds of valor.

Again, no thanks to this suggestion.

Or for that matter be limited on the amount of jobs i'm allowed to transcened, and to the no police we already know where you stand on specing.

-edit- I wasn't entirely serious about the thread, either. I blame it on boredom before work.
To be honest lol, I don't know how people can enjoy non strategy situations and grinding xp for hours on end lol. It's your preference, but I have never enjoyed xping, and if they did this, that would force me to redo samurai and such just to be on pace with the other good DDs lol. Not worth it to me to do something alot of people truly don't enjoy. They made xp faster for a reason haha >.<

I find it amusing you don't wish to grind in a game all about grinding :x

I kinda like this idea, but I'd like to see it be applicable to a single job only. Not a major gain, but let people use it for what they consider their main job.

This is exactly why I wouldn't want to see this limited to a single job... and why merit limits and selection of storyline rewards are so frustrating in a game designed to let a single character play all jobs and switch between them and all nations and see all the storylines. These methods of forcing one to focus on a single job go against the core game design seen throughout the rest of the game.

See, some people aren't about having it all. In a way, it seems to be suited for those of us who identify more with one job than the others. Some like RDM, others like PLD, others like BLU, others like WHM and so on. Switching hats is a nice game mechanic and all, but at the end of the day I think of my taru as "Duelle the Red Mage", not "Duelle the guy with a bunch of under-levelled jobs and RDM and DRK at 99".

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line.

Almost everything in this game is done under the premise that people nothing you do on one job excludes something from another. Very few examples to that are certain rewards (CoP, RotZ, AN, ToAU rewards) and merit points (as in, if you merit STR for your melee, you cannot fully merit INT for your nukers). And this also bothers the shit out of me, because my entire philosophy is to be the best at everything I play.

The problem with your approach is, it would change a core concept of FFXI (the non-trade-off policy between jobs), something that many people appreciate and thus would upset many players. If it was for all jobs, you could still be special, because you can focus more on your job and get new/better gear faster and use your inventory and storage more efficiently, and it would allow us to still be able to do it for every job we want to. So if it was for all jobs, no one would get hurt, if it was restricted to a few, a lot of people would be upset.

Having said that, I'm still against it completely. Guess it's personal preference but I think it's been well-established that a majority of players hates EXP and wouldn't wanna go through this again.
