    Expansion Code

I purchased the game for PC from Steam and installed it. I am now trying to enter the registration code provided by Steam for the Abbysea zones and the bonus scenarios. I did what I think I was supposed to do, but the zones don't appear to be open neither on my Square Enix account or on the FFXI Character Selection page. Did I do something wrong or is there a delay with this process? Also, when I go back and try to do the same thing again it say that my registration code is already in use.

    Milann,

    Teegrins!

There may be a delay indeed, but I personally never experienced any.
In the case it will not be solved by itself, here are some thoughts.

To make sure, you did enter the codes at the Square Enix Account Management System?
Directions to confirm registered services and to add new ones:
    • Services and Options
    • Select Service
    • PlayOnline / FINAL FANTASY XI
    • Active Service Accounts
    • PlayOnline / FINAL FANTASY XI 1 : [PlayOnline Member ID] (Assuming #1 is the desired Service Account.)
    • Options List
    • Permanent Options (This should show you the registered options.)

You mention they are not 'lit up' in the title-screen, before the character selection and such screens?

Which of them are missing, exactly?
    • A Crystalline Prophecy
    • A Shantotto Ascension
    • A Moogle Kupo d'Etat
    require
    • FINAL FANTASY XI
    • PlayOnline
    • Rise of the Zilart
    to be registered, and installed.

For the Abyssea add-ons, one needs to have
    • FINAL FANTASY XI
    • PlayOnline
    • Rise of the Zilart
    • Wings of the Goddess
    registered, and installed.

If it's only the add-ons that are missing, but for example Wings of the Goddess is there, and is playable, I would suspect some error in the registration procedure.

Since you got it via Steam, all the required expansions should be installed if no errors have occurred, so this basically leaves the registration codes as a possible issue.

If you have properly registered them all via the Square Enix Account Management System, and they are shown there for the correct PlayOnline Service Account, I would suggest you to contact the Customer Service via the Support Centre/Center regarding Account/Billing.

OK, under permanent options I have PlayOnline Member, FINAL FANTASY XI, Rise of the Zilhart, Chains of Promatia, Treasures of Aht Urghan, Wings of the Goddes, and Vision of Abbysea (which I bought Spet. 5, 2010) before taking a break from the game. This means the code I got from Steam to activate the rest of the expansions hasn't worked. I'm going to contact the Support Center. I will update this thread when I find out an answer, thanks for the help.

I am in the same boat as I too, have bought Visions of Abbysea and not the other 2, except I didn't buy a any special package expansion codes. I'm seeking the other 2 expansions and cannot find a way to purchase it on POL or via the SE account managment system.

And again please do update this thread when you get an answer. It would help another in your same situation.

    Thanks.

    ><)))°€

    RatixFarrence,

If I remember correctly, the add-on scenarios were only available for separate purchase via the PlayOnline viewer, which is has not been used for any kind of account management nor product procurement for a while now.
That being said, since they cost 9.99€ each, you would be better off purchasing one of the collections for either lower or around the same price.

    That is assuming you indeed mean the Abyssea add-ons and not actual expansions such as the Wings of the Goddess which is rather obvious due to the fact that you can not access Abyssea without Wings of the Goddess but just to make sure... ^^;

Even in that case, or specifically in that case, any collection with the game, expansions, and add-ons would likely be cheaper.

You can find some of the digital download sources from the links below:

    Europe:
    North America (official store):
I don't know why the US-site only links to the official store.
I'm quite certain Steam, and the others(?) that are listed in the EU-site work for those in America as well.

    Or perhaps not!

There is actually a 50% off sale on the FFXI Complete Collection right now (until the 26th) on Steam. I don't know the prices in the U.K. but it is currently the price of one of the add-ons for every expansion ever, and a hat.

I bought the Ultimate Collection with Abyssea expansion from steam.. atleast it was "on sale". Luckily it took awhile for the key codes to be provided which was only a little frustrating, been a bit of a nightmare since then. The main code said incorrect region to update my trial account, even though they were both N. American. So had to create a new service account.. "oh well", I thought.

The new service account seemed to register the expansions OK. But after logging in via the steam version of the PlayOnline Viewer and clicking the "Play" button on FFXI I get the following error:

"You have no Content ID for FINAL FANTASY XI.
Please obtain a new Content ID or reactivate a cancelled one
in order to play the game and/or to use the PlayOnline Service."

If I try to obtain a new Content ID via the menu I get prompted for my password (again) and then recieve the following error message:

    "UCS-5000
    Invalid or incomplete information.
Please check your PlayOnline ID and password, and try again."

I even tried updating my password via the website to no avail. Not a single word out of steam support.. just me talking to myself. Well.. guess I'll just take my ball and go home, but wait..

Turns out the old PlayOnline Viewer no longer works since activating the steam version.

Maybe it'll sort itself out in due time but at the moment I'm left thinking

"Buyer beware STEAM, you get what you pay for."

    Ya, I'm steam'ed. /end rant =Y-Y=

    MEOWCHiX,

    I was actually going to mention something similar to that after the post before yours, but forgot I guess. ^^;

When installing the game via Steam (which I personally do not recommend due to various reasons, but will not go into details about here), one should only install via Steam. What this means, any existing install should be un-installed, and then a fresh install implemented via Steam.

The PlayOnline Viewer downloaded via the website will also not work with the Steam install.

As for registering the codes, it is done via the Square Enix Account Management System, as I mentioned in a previous post. No account management is available via the PlayOnline Viewer at all, and has not been for some time now (has it been over a year or 2 now?)

You will have to register at least one Content ID via that management site for your service account, directions to which are likewise mentioned in my previous post here.

    I hope this helps~

    Edit:

Do note that in cases where one already has the game and the expansions installed via other means than Steam, it is possible to gain access to the add-on scenarios by obtaining the codes via Steam, and registering them to the Service Account without the need to install anything via Steam.

Square Enix Contact Support concluded the issue may be because the keys provided from steam are EU and not US.

Apparently steam is aware of the issue and I have to wait to hear back from steam?

Steams disclaimer on the advert regarding Japanese accounts doesn't build much hope..

"Any customers in Japan who purchases the North American version of any FINAL FANTASY XI product will receive a registration code that cannot be used in conjunction with an existing Japanese PlayOnline Account. If you are affected by this issue, please contact the Square Enix Support Center for assistance."

Luckily in this case the original account was US and the codes provided EU..

Let the finger pointing / waiting match begin! *fingers crossed*

Thanks for the reply, atleast the square community (forum and support center) is responsive.

    Update:

After much ticketing and 3 reinstalls (VGCF is evil) it's fixed! Thanks to much (emotional) support from Square, Steam finally got around to fixing the bulk region mess a few days later. Alot of people seemed to get stuck in the [EU] <-> [US] key mix up: http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=2618837

I'm looking forward to finding the xbox and pc discs floating around secondhand, but in the meantime I guess the steam savings was nice to be able to gift friends the game.. if they can look past the mix ups.
