Alexandrite and the issue of the "303 stacks"

As most people know, the primary issue with mythic is the alexandrite. While currently there is a shortage falling far below demand there is a more pressing issue which should have been addressed ages ago. The issue being that you need some 303 stacks of alexandrite to complete a mythic.

Now don't come at me saying that: You can trade it to the npc to hold. What if you decide to fold midway? What then, eat the loss? My suggestion has probably been made before... Make an alexandrite 100 piece. It would at least solve some of the inventory issues with holding 30k alexandrite. I don't really want to make mules just for alexandrite. I even had an idea for the name...Alexandrite Scarab. I'm sure this would be a welcome change that any mythic person would welcome.

I hate the name but the idea is sound. Why should we have to make a mule just to hold alex?

isn't the one that's the complete 30,000 called a Cat's Eye so it could be another type of eye or something.

Just looked up Cat's Eye. Wiki has no info on it so I've no idea if it's the complete 30k alex or if it's just a 100 piece that was never implemented. However according to ffxiah it says that it's the 30k piece but it seems only to have come from mog bonanza. So that really doesn't solve anything...and even if it was existent beyond that it still doesn't solve the primary issue of it having to have 303 stacks of the stuff to finish mythic.

An even simpler solution: just have Shami (or his brother, or his aht urhgan nephew or w/e) store your alexandrites and dynamis currency. Dyna currency can be stacked to 100s and 10000s, but you have to run to a remote location to do it, AND you run the risk of the goblin cheating you... TAKING 33x 100 pieces instead of giving you a single 10.000 piece...
Or you know, have the goblins store them for you.. and a qiqirn taking care of the alex.

Cat's Eye will fill up your alexandrites to 30.000, so it can be a 100 or 30.000 piece depending on how much alex you traded already. (In essence, if you traded any alex before the cat's eye, the alex is lost.)

Well I can't see anyone quitting midway through a mythic. That's just crazy talk. Yet I'm pretty sure people have done it... either way when you need 30k of them or even the original 50k it's just mind boggling why there wasn't a better system in place to organize them. Usually we're all like, you got to be kidding us guys why are things like this? and then they go oh it's because of this this and this, and then we're like....good grief are you serious???

I imagine drites are one of these moments where the logic behind them is unwarranted and I'm probably not far off if not on the money because after all these years they still have yet to better the system aside from a eye that came from one MB. I think they're proud of what mythics have become but they should still increase supply by ten fold at the very least. A steady supply did not make them abundant in years and it won't now. But they have begun to get a bullseye on them now that people have accomplished their empyreans and relics. That leaves just one big challenge left in between the farting around with whatever content they release for new armor: Mythic weapons. I'm certain SE will keep that in mind when or if they make a serious attempt at "fixing" the mythic quest line.

I've never heard of the dynamis goblins stealing your currency. When I did kikoku, back in the day with my old char, I never had any issues with trading to the dynamis goblins. Even if I had to run to Nashmau to turn my alex into 100 pieces, to Paparoon or whoever to make a 100 piece, I wouldn't mind. That being said: your suggestion is a worthwhile one as long as there is a guaranteed way to retrieve your currency should you decide to abandon the quest. Regardless currency does not suffer anywhere near the storage issue that alex does but I feel like they would have to do both regardless if they went that route.

I know a few people who have quit midway into mythic just because of the issue with drites. It wasn't so much about the storage issue as it was with availability, price, and drop rate. They sold their drites to me the second they decided to quit mythic and I've still nowhere near enough to build a mythic. As it stands right now I'm relatively sure my server wouldn't have enough to build even one mythic even if it consolidated all the Alex on the server. But you can't go expecting that to happen. More often then not my offers to buy people out on alex have not brought me a great deal of alex. To say the least supply is far less than demand right now.

Right now mythic is the last bastion of "old" ffxi. They have normalized just about everything else that used to represent "old" ffxi. I think that most people who are going for mythic right now are doing it because of the challenge. Even in the old days mythic was still harder than relic, now it's just even more so.

There have been a few people that actually got robbed like this. If you do not trade them the correct amount of currency, they give you the next 'best' thing... which in the case of Haggleblix is a Koh-I-Noor for a whopping 33x100 byne bills.

It doesn't happen a lot.. only when people traded 99x100 + 1x1, instead of 99x100 + 1x100. But it has happened.
You can use your 1-shot roll-back for it, though...

Yeah I've been caught out by it, mainly due to not paying attention and being half asleep while trading singles:

You can use your item restore to reset it though, if you haven't used it already. Should never have been an option to be honest or removed a long time ago.

It's because mythics are the 1%ers. We should tax them more too and implement welfare.
