Really want to give this game a chance =D

I figured I'd pick this up on steam, just to try something different. But I've hit a wall. Perhaps I picked the wrong server. But once I hit 14-15, I can barely kill anything by myself. And I seem to be the only person around that's low level in the entire server, that I can see anyway. I figured I'd give it a shot and ask anyone on here if they would be interested in playing! I'd be willing to start over if need be (again, only lvl 14 with no subjob) just so I can experience the game the way it was meant to be experienced; with other people.
This is simply me reaching out to enjoy FFXI with those interested. Elitist attitudes, walk the other way please.

At that level there's usually not much you can do by yourself, or at least not at a steady pace without a subjob and experience. However, there's often GoV parties in Gusgen Mines at that level which would be glad to Level Sync to you. And more importantly, it's a good first step to find and befriend people, some of them maybe even in a similar situation to you (I found two newbies there just this last week). Getting there may be a bit difficult, if you've never been before and aren't from Bastok, best I can do from here is describe the way, though. Let me know where you're from or your current location, if you need me to describe the way.

Ok. That's a good start. However, no clue what GoV is, lol. I did manage to make it to Selbina from Winhurst, so am I at least in the right area somewhat? By biggest concern is really the lack of understanding with getting new gear, making some money, and most importantly, getting a team to kill things with. Any guidance/teamwork is appreciated

Sadly it isn't easy to get very far by yourself. You should try to befriend some people, maybe even just shout in a city for a social linkshell (Port Jeuno works best).

For now you should head to Gusgen Mines (east of the Crag of Dem in Konschtat Highlands) and just ask to team up with people there. There's a floating book, a Grounds Tome. You talk to it, select individual training then page 1. Then you just proceed to kill skeletons and you'll see your EXP go up quickly every 6 kills. That's what GoV is alla bout (you can look up some basics about it here).

Making money is not easy at your level, your best bet is really to save up everything you find, from bat wings to crystals, and start putting them on the auction house when you get a stack of them.

Note that this game, sadly, isn't very newbie friendly. However, it gets easier the more you do it and the more friends you make.
