I dont think the power is going to be up to normal any time soon. All the businesses in Japan probably are planning how to get back up and running not just SE. Has anyone heard what the power company is planning on how to get it back up?

this was discussed in previous threads that mods already closed, let's just drop it before this thread heats up like the others. They know they are losing money and will do something about it. If they still haven't it's because they can't.
Just be patient and hope the nuclear danger settles cause that's the major issue slowing them down atm. no nuclear = 1/5 of Japan energy reduction.

Exactly. SE will get the games online as soon as they can. I'm certain many of the SE Japan employees are dealing with much more serious issue right now, let's remember SE is made up of people, many of which were either affected or have family/friends that were affected and continue to be affected by such a terrible tragedy. As soon as they return to work as usual, and have the means to restore FFXI/XIV without affecting energy scarcity, I'm certain they will. Everyone please accept this and consider donating your April fees to the Red Cross earthquake/tsunami fund for Japan.
In the meantime, we can entertain each other on here and be thankful the forum went live and is still up even though the game is not. ^^
please stay on topic of the thread a lot of threads have been locked because of a simple phrase like this in sighting arguments instead of topic related posts..Quote deleted by moderator.
I personally don't know how SqEnix does thing so yes this is going to be IMO but I don't think there is another location for them to move things to, yes do to the situation over in Japan I don't think there is a possibility of transporting computer/gear/employees to another country not to mention all the financial difficulties it would bring to just simply up and move there are protocols in airports/sea ports and I think too much electrical / computer hardware would require permits and what not and basically would be a waste of time by the time they did do that chances are the servers will be up and running.. Even if it was to move to china (hypothetically) or australia.. and relocating would also require the property aspect to do this, do they have a building or land purchased or usable in another country to do this? I think no matter how bad we want this to happen SqEnix wasn't prepared for a situation like this to come about and you really couldn't foresee this happening either.. So for future reference if SqEnix has the resources and capabilities of doing it to appease the fan base they may create a secondary server in another location where it wouldn't be directly effected by the conditions in japan.. but like I said I don't see them moving this is feasible or even possible for a short term situation as they are stating.. Now unless your the fortune teller from jueno we would have to assume this is going to be a month shut down at most but long term if the situation isn't resolved then maybe SqEnix will decide to relocate even if temporarily ..
Are they reading this some ask? Yes they are they are monitoring these forums still and they have put their input in on occasion (like i said they have locked 2 threads today that ive seen) at least of ways of the admins and dev team at least..

The perma solution would be to move the servers to Texas.
An area like San Antonio to Austin has no weather, no nothing. No tornados, no earthquakes, no ...... anything. Hardly even rain. Central-South Texas is immune to weather effects, and taxes, it's where a lot of companies HQs are, including Microsoft Xbox. (North Texas gets snow, South texas gets rain).
And, Texas has incredibly fast internet, it's where U-Verse launched. Plus, it's halfway between east and west coast.
China has a lot of restrictions on internet and it may cause a problem by doing this.. They have implemented laws based on MMO related playing and servers in that country have a lot of rules they have to follow I said it previously as a hypothetical but more then likely as of reality it wouldn't be an optionWhy would they move servers to US when they could do it in china which is much closer and much cheaper, do you think you are the center of the world ?
