I'm sure you understand the dynamics of this game...but I don't think you are understanding the dynamics of the people that play this game.
There are countless things that are wrong with the job in relation to how the game actually plays. No Dmg > Reduced Dmg...alway. Hate is BROKE. PLD dmg output is just silly compared to any other frontline job.
I don't think PLD needs more JAs on long timers. Start by fixing the shit they already have. And I'm not suggesting all of these be adopted.
Shield Bash should be every 30 seconds. It should be our provoke. We need one. Being tied to /WAR is retarded.
Sentinel needs to be up longer... and not decay so goddamn much. it needs to be a 3 minute ability. 1 minute recast
Rampart needs to be the mirror only for magic damage. 3 minute duration. 1 minute recast.
Forced to switch between the 2.
The defense bonuses are almost worthless... they need to also be tied to a direct translation to -% dmg taken. We need that to apply to magic damage as well.
There is no way in hell that I should see BST pets tanking NMs better than a PLD can.
Chivalry might become useful when they implement changes to healing spells... but as it stands any spell less than cure 4 is worthless to cast...and cure 4 generally takes to long to cast in between hits. Curing on PLD is nothing but failure. Spells take too long and are too expensive.
Cover should be something we can use at almost will. It should have a minute duration, with a 30 second recast so we can cover at least one person indefinitely and can switch between people as we need it.
And for the love of god we need to be able to put some damage out. They have just about nothing that increases dmg output. Righteous Rage or some shit like that could be the name or justification. Give it a straight bump in att or base it on something like dmg taken... or dmg taken by the party... or enmity. I don't know and I don't care...but they need to be at least moderately useful in a wider range of activities. PLD is terrible at the moment.
imo people should stop thinking about defencive tanking AND SO SHOULD SE. defencive tanking is non existant now, hell last time i was on PLD for something was, wait i cant remember now coz it was long ago. PLD needs 2 modes DD mode and Defencive mode
DD mode would be when player is not wielding a shield, like using GS or 2wielding swords, if player is not wielding a shield then job abilities/traits available should be of an offencive nature sharing recast times with defencive abilities.
Defencive mode would be for when a player is wielding a shield and a 1 handed weapon. if player is wielding a shield then job abilities/traits available should be of a defencive nature (basically the current JA's) sharing recast times with offencive abilities.
PLD can DD but poorly due to the lack of decent DD gear (well not really much now) and also the lack of attack power depending on subjob does not help, PLD using GS is something i want to enjoy more of but since it sucks there is no point. SE needs to stop living in the past and move PLD forward with allowing them to plau offencivly.
i am sorry Almace/Ecalibur and ochain/aegis is just not enough any more. i have so much gear for PLD that takes up space for what, basically for a job that is never getting used any more. SE needs to think more of what the playerbase is doing than thier ideal way of playing the game
