I visited that spot today, where we first met, our souls first joyfully embraced each other
We ventured there to be alone after that magical day together.
We laughed at the world, and delighted in finding someone else who understood the joke.
I remember the breathless excitement of those few monumental hours when you were mine.
The most memorable hours of my life...

Though years have passed now I still remember this place like it was yesterday.
Is that strange?
It's still so beautiful here, but not near as much so now, since I am not seeing it through the rose colored glasses of new love.
But it is still my favorite setting in any world.

I fantasize about you showing up, now, all these years later.
I dream that there is a chance that you remember and recognize that connection for what it was, that it meant as much to you.
I dare to hope that you perhaps have ventured here to this desolate spot at times, like I have, hoping to find me.
You'll show up, like you never did that day so long ago, tell me you have thought about us as much as I have, explain why you left me standing here, with flowers, all day...

I wonder if you know how many days I showed up here again, in our spot.
Did you watch me waiting, wanting to reach out, but never did?
What situation caused you to walk away?
What event kept you from our second meeting?
Did you think, as I did, that no matter what happened it would never be as wonderful as that first day?

I wonder how emphatically others would laugh at me if they knew.
Would they understand and silently appreciate the connection I had felt, consoling me with sympathetic shakes of their heads?
Or would they just laugh?
I realize for the hundreth time that it doesn't matter, to just sit with you again for just one hour, I would let them laugh at me for years.

Our souls touched, you told me you felt it too..in the silences...and the satisfied sighs.
The Konschtat wind rustles the branches of the trees overhead and causes the windmills to turn in the distance.
I watch in quiet wonderment and see you sitting there again.
But it is just a fantasy...
A Final Fantasy...

I will not pass this way again,
Square F-10 has seen the last of me.
But there is no way I can remove you from my thoughts.
So evermore will you be, "The one that got away".
I take one last look at our hill
With a sigh, I log off...
