New player looking for friendly guild...

Hey guys. I'm new to the game, and with this also being my first MMO played on a console, i'm completely lost

Are there any casual, friendly guilds recruiting newbies on Asura server ? I could use a bit of advice, and tbh i feel a bit lonely while playing.

Guys, what's the role of Red Mages in a group ? Ranged DPS, Healers, Melee DPS ?

They are amazing buffers that turn average players into demi-gods. They can also DPS with their sword which can be enchanted with magicks to put a double whammy on your foe. They are also the masters of enfeebles that can stop a foe dead in its tracks.

Ignore Draylo. Kinda.

At low levels, Its a weak healer, can Enfeeble, and melee rather poorly. Its a mixed blend of meh.

And it pretty much stays that way to 99. RDM Is really one of the worst jobs in FFXI right now. Its mediocre at just about everything. I mean, there are some places where RDM is nice, But its more a niche job, and shouldn't be leveled as a Main job.

Regardless of what some may say.

WHM is a better Healer and Buffer
BLM is a better Nuker
RDM has enfeebles - But anything worth a darn is immune
SCH can Heal, Nuke, and Buff better than RDM
(insert a real DD) can Melee Better.

Its just mediocre at everything. Early on, Your role will likely be healer though. You're good at that for a few levels once you get refresh?

WHM, MNK, WAR, and BLM are all great starting jobs. They're all still useful at endgame.

BLM is the best nuker, Useful in current Events at the very least due to procs
WHM Is the best helaer, Useful in everything that needs a healer.
MNK is a great DD, Very easy to learn and get into. Commonly used to tank
WAR is a great DD, commonly used to tank as well.

THF is.. a good TH Whore, I love the job, But realistically it requires mucho effort just to play the job mediocrely. So its not a good 'start' job.

After that, once you get your advanced jobs at level 30... Pick your favorite. A few things

PLD is all but useless In a good group. It has spots as a safety net if you have Aegis though.
DRK Is a good DD, Shares the spotlot with all the other DD though.
BST is a strong solo job, Has some strength of its own, but idiocy and stigma causes people to not invite it as a DD.
BRD is a great support job. Not used as often as it should be these days, but still amazing.
RNG is a strong Ranged DD. Holds up well in voidwatch, but still not as powerful as say.. WAR
SMN is a good hateless DD, which is all but pointless today. Still useful for procs in VW.
NIN Is.... Something?
DRG is another good DD, but falls behind WAR, etc
SAM is a strong DD, considered one of the top 3.
BLU is a very versatile job, Good for many things.
COR is a strong buffer, getting nerfed soon (Misers!), but still strong
PUP is a niche job. No one takes it seriously because the mass of people are stupid. But its a fine DD, and the auto is epic.
DNC Is a good Support/healer/DD/Tank for low man events, Not invited much in "endgame" Scenarios.
SCH is a great support/healer, good nuker too, But same problem as DNC, not invited much to endgame.

But level whatever you have the most fun as. WAR is pretty much King DD, followed by SAM. MNK/DRK are up there too. DRG a little, then pretty much everything else. Some of the above are necessarily my opinion of the jobs, Just how the general "mass community" Sees them.
