Question on deactivation/reactivation

My character has been stagnant for about 7 months now and I would like to cancel my ffxi service so I do not have to pay the monthly fee for a game I am not currently playing much. But I would like the option to come back if se decides to finally introduce something meaty and worthwhile back into the game and I am not sure of the rules and policies as I have never canceled an account nor have I been able to find exactly the info im looking for.

If I do not delete my chars but simply cancel my ffxi service would I be able to reactivate that account with everything intact at a later date or would everything simply be lost?

I do have an active ffxiv account and have no plans on canceling that service so my se account itself will still be up and running it will just be the ffxi service that will be closed.

Before anyone suggests it, no I would not be willing to start from the ground up no matter how easy it is to lvl these days. I have seen that suggestion in many a post.

Just cancel the service without deleting, I came back after two years with my characters still there and started where I left off.
