In this version update notes SE mentioned delaying new gear-specific spells because they didn't know how they wanted to implement them. I suggest adding new spells to the magian trial staves; either one new spell for each levle 99 staff (an attack spell for the Elemental Magic damage staves, a buff or debuff for the accuracy staves, a powerful cure for all jobs with the cure staff and a new blood pact for each of the SMN staves.) Giving all cure staff wielders a powerful cure would also make non-WHMs more viable in abyssea.
Alternately, allowing people with multiple elemental staves to combine them into one all-purpose staff, and giving that a universal spell, would also work.
As for the difficulty in obtaining these new spells, they shoudl be as difficult as doing the entire series of elemental staff trials. they are not too ard, nor are they too easy. Most can be done in a week to a month, depending on free time. I think the trade-off in time will make obtaining the spells difficult enough. Rhater than requiring a set of Auction House itemsfor the final trial, we could have to defeat, aay, 10 of the prime avatar or something. Since we can only do that once a conquest tally, it would take several weeks to complete. alos, it would fit with the soloable aspect of the elemental magian trials while also allowing us to team up in groups to help friends or finish faster.
Alternately, we could have to defeat a certain number of Abyssea elementals of a given element group. This would allow us to team up with people on other trials. Since Abyssea elementals are multiple elements.
Lastly, they could require actual Abyssea NMs of corresponding elements: like defeat 25of the fire-absorbing NM for the fire staff. That would probably make the trial very easy though, since most linkshells kill 20+ of a single NM in a day.
