Please update PC Config. Tool to allow Gamepad Analog Triggers to be set as buttons

    Hello,

Most PC Gamepad Controllers these days are made to emulate the functions of X-Box 360 controllers, as they are supported natively in the Windows environment. Unfortunately, the current PC Client does not support the Analog Triggers of these types of controllers, and subsequently, many of us that prefer using a Gamepad with the PC Client are often left with less than optimal control configurations.

Is it possible to update the PC client to allow the positive and negative axises to be set as buttons similar to the way they are supported on the XBox client? I know many of us would greatly appreciate this minor update.

    Cheers,
    Domfrancisco

I'm confused about what you mean since I too use a gamepad. Are you talking about the click-buttons on the analog joy sticks? Or are you talking about pressure sensitivity analog gamepads?

I'm talking about the L2 and R2 analog triggers of XBOX 360 style gamepads. Because they don't send a simple on-off signal like normal buttons, the config tool won't let them be set as buttons. Typically i configure these to be my CTRL and ALT macro palettes with R1 and L1 set to Auto run and heal/lock target functions, like they work on the XBOX client, but if you are using an XBOX controller on a PC, the PC client will not support the R2 and L2 triggers.

Odd, I never had this problem when I used a PS3 remote, but I also used MotionJoy driver which has multiple driver configurations to choose from if the application doesn't recognize the analog shoulder trigger function of the remote (mainly due to the driver seeing it as a different function than a simple button press). You can see the difference also if you go to your game pad device settings and calibrate it.

Side story aside, they would have to update their configuration clients to recognize the new drivers used by these controllers. The only ones affected by this that I have seen is PS3 (when using driver that recognizes the analog nature of the remote) and Xbox 360 remotes used as game pads. Other brands don't seem to have this (specifically game pads made for PC use only).

Just to clarify what you are asking for: And update to the Client configuration tool that recognizes the Windows approved drivers for Xbox 360 and PS3 remotes which have Analog shoulder buttons.

    Yes, this exactly.

Just use the 2 bummers instead of the 2 triggers, it takes all of 5min to get used to doing this. And you really not lose much of anything (can remap the run to the 'start' or 'back' button).

An easier solution is to use XBCD, that said it'd still be better for the to update the client. It's annoying loosing two buttons because the client for Windows is so outdated.

Unfortunately, as far as I'm aware it's impossible to use this with a 64 bit vista system because the OS will not allow unsigned drivers to be installed.
