Thing is, SE completely missed the mark. You don't fix dyna by nerfing pet TH, you fix it by nerfing /dnc and/or the JA proc rate.
I have very rearly added to a post and this will be going over old ground for some of this, 1- Bst will lose a pet when they Zone/DC, 2- Pup,Drg,Smn keep pet's, 3- Bst's need to pay or synth jug's and the price is going up all the time same goes on healing with Pet food Soo... Why after such a long debate on getting Bst better pet's WITH shorter timer's then nerf them more with the de-level of TH Bst's solo that is our thing you made Dyna a solo thing, how do we come up with better farming that again other's will only cry about Bst's solo this, Bst's solo that, Dyna/Aby well hell any thing we fight people complain. Just leave bst's alone and look at other job's or make it a lot more cost effective to solo make synths easyer/cheeper items. Sorry my moan is over now just more way's for bst's to spend more gill for nothing
this, I've been hollering for this since the 1st announcement of the TH nerf. The fact is each tier of TH has less effect than the tier before it, such that anything beyond TH3 is negligible. However, addressing that per SE is too much work, so we all (including thief) get to bend over and take it again. Get your lube.
honestly, how hard is it to make each tier of TH be a "reroll" on the drops table? All those of us going back to D&D remember what random is, and it works the same way on a computer, just minus the dice. All my TH6 setup does is guarantee a few more of the 10-20 gil drops at NPC cluttering up my gobbiebag while desireable drops still remain essentially unobtainable. A strong argument can be made that you're just better off bring a better DD to your farming session for faster kills since it nets out about the same to maxed TH in terms of drops.
lol, you noticed? same is true about the magic proc being so much lower than JA/WS; go in soloing on a mage and see how well that works for you, even the mages you DO see are in there /dnc soloing the JA mobs most of the time, at least in my experience. TBH, I don't think SE intended new Dyn to be a solo activity, but this is the kind of crap that develops when your aim is "broken game" from a Dev standpoint.
I went into dyna bst/whm once to raise a friend then farm. I had about 30 min solo after he timed out. I thought I'd do magic procs....
I spammed the dia... I proc'd 1 mob out of a dozen EP's my pet was killing. I didn't help kill at all... just tried to proc. I then went over to kill the DC's and proc'd more ja's using just ready moves and feral howl than I could on magic proc.

exactly my point Xilk, they purposely set the proc rate lower for magic because "you can spam so much magic in the time it takes to melee". what they leave out is that you're talking about multiple casters-solo that's just not the case. In fact, you have it easier than a solo mage in that you had a pet to help hold hate so you weren't worried about taking damage, being interrupted, etc. the way another mage type would be.
Of course, parties go light on casters now-the changes to the game have lead to everything being handled by the melee zerg, which-of course-means that it is "the only way" to beat content. It isn't. Good mages can do just as much damage, they simply can't deal with being hit back as much. Problems are two-fold: 1. people are SO concerned with keeping up a DPS that they forget the goal is the proc, not the damage, so they forget to not WS unless it's a WS mob and to use low damage WS when they do until they get it, and 2. mages need a tank in areas where they can't kite, especially when you need to keep casts low damage to get a proc, but noone bothers with hate control (and the corrolary target control). the second problem is nothing new, in the old days on alliance content you could never get the melee to watch what they swung at which was why so many players hated to play sleepers; the DD would wake the mob which promptly came for us, not the guy who hit it, and all sleeper jobs tend to be squishy.
Went beast to dynamis last night with my shell. We had a few bad pulls and we were getting alot of WS proc mobs so we needed multiple people to spam WS for procs but we had no sleeper (well WHM could handle 1) so I switched to the sheep jug. People still couldn't stay on target, but luckily the sheep can take it. Had I been there on my bard it would have been another story, one that ended with me tele-ing out when they failed to control themselves, and leaving them to face the consequences...
If that makes me sound like a jerk, fine. I DO warn them several times that if they get me killed again I'm out of there before I actually leave. That's why I solo as much as I do, I only have to deal with my own screw-ups, and I'm generally equipped to handle them (or I wouldn't BE soloing).
People don't use /assist macros at events?
unfortunately, no they don't. Granted, these days most jobs can solo 1 mob (at least with a /dnc), but again we're after procs, not kills-at least until procced. problem is there isn't the strong interest in scheduled events there was a few years ago so the leaders are reluctant to discipline players and have them simply leave. Attendance is spotty enough as it is. Of course, there were always those who considerred anything as a chance to show-off so they ignored /assist anyway, but I couldn't get the healers to go along with me and ignore the showoffs when handing out cures/buffs.
Lol man I came to the bst forum and all I find is a bunch of whining and griping. Seriously I think I even read a post where people were talking about quitting bc TH dropped from 3 to 1 on dipper and falcor. What a bunch of spoiled children.
I recently leveled a bst and I feel incredibly overpowered compared to my other 4 jobs.
I could go bst/dnc to pretty much anything. My ninja has great gear and it is a fairly intense fight for me to solo some things as nin/dnc. I don't get nearly the same drop rate as my thf but the survivability I thought, was great. Then I leveled up bst and got some pdt axes and I can basically afk the same fights and get a better drop rate.
Even after the change, I still get a better drop rate than my nin. I can just sub thf in abyssea. Sometimes I sub nin tho for chance at yellow. In dynamis I still sub dnc for procs and get about 40-50 more coins per clear than my friend who goes thf/dnc and has WAY better gear and weapons than I do. I got nothing to complain about but it looks like a lot of you just need a diaper change or something
