Hi,
I'm hoping to get a response from an actual developer or tech, but beggars can't be choosers, and I'm begging.
I'm this guy's girlfriend. We both play and are both currently trying to find out how to fix my predicament.
I had several macro books prior to the update involving the macro pallet adjustments. I noticed right around that update that I'd be leveling a job. Let's say my Monk, macro book 6. Well, I'd zone and go to use my Dodge or Focus macro, and it's on my Red Mage macros, book 1. I figured, "hmm, odd, ok, whatever. Maybe a glitch." So I switched back to my Monk book, ended up zoning and going to fight again, and, GASP. It's on my RDM macro book again.
Eventually, I got sick of it and just did some copying and pasting so my Monk macro book was my first macro book in the list. Well, now that my Monk is nearly done being worked on (first capped job, woot!), I've been working on my Blue Mage. I had totally forgotten about the macro book problem. So, I started working on it...
I've uninstalled & reinstalled PlayOnline/FFXI. I've completely deleted the macro files in the data folders. I've not retrieved my macros from the servers. I've erased all my character data from my computer. I've shut down all my anti-virus and protection (boyfriend read that someone else did that & found out the anti-virus was blocking some of the downloaded data, not allowing the macro data to come in). I've been researching for answers with my boyfriend all night.
So, my question is this...
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW THE HELL TO FIX THIS?!
Just in case this information will help solve the mystery:
1. I play on my computer, running Windows XP Black.
2. I occasionally play on my laptop (Windows 7) or my 360. I've yet to test my 360, but I am not having this problem on my laptop. So I doubt my 360 will be acting like this.
3. I don't use any 3rd party programs like the Window(er?) program.
4. My boyfriend & I play on the same SE account, but different Content ID accounts. He usually plays on his own laptop or 360. He isn't having this problem.
A little detail I feel I should mention... I had been playing on my laptop a while while on vacation out of state. While I had been gone, my boyfriend had switched our desktop's operating system from Windows 7 to Windows XP Black. It wasn't too long after that this problem started. However, I don't remember exactly HOW LONG afterward. I'm not sure if the operating system is to blame or not, but before we go through the trouble of reverting back to Windows 7, I wanted to see if I'd get any answers here.
I feel the need to push this issue's urgency. I know it's minor compared to other things, but I'm truly on the verge of rage quitting. I'm ashamed to say it, but it's true. I'm losing my patience with this.
Thank you in advance to anyone who can offer any insight. Happy gaming!
