    Possible Killer Instinct Adjustment

    As a result, through merit points and equipment it will be possible to reach an effect duration of 3 minutes 30 seconds and a recast time of 4 minutes 10 seconds. Below are the development team’s thoughts on the adequacy of the job abilities’ effects.
     
    •The effect itself
    It was determined that the effect of gaining a 15% chance of activating intimidation, 15% damage boost, and a 15% reduction in damage taken versus specific families of monsters is effective. While we have received various opinions on the matter, we would first like to monitor the situation with the longer effect durations and shortened recast timers.
     
    •Usage
    In addition to comments stating that the effect is weak, we have also seen comments stating that the monsters these abilities apply to are scarce (not enough situations to be able to use them).
    It is very true that no matter how good the stats are, if there aren’t situations to use it or not enough situations to use it, there is no point in having it. With that said, we will be properly preparing situations for them such as adding NMs to Legion that make these abilities effective and useful.
     
    •Deletion of abilities
    Additionally, we have seen some comments in regards to deleting these abilities since we are reaching/at the recast timer limit for some jobs.
    I am sure you all already understand, but to explain once again to avoid any confusion going forward, currently the recast timer limit is 13. However, in the future we plan on increasing this, so please don’t think of this as a reason to delete abilities.

    Also, in regards to beastmaster’s ability “Killer Instinct,” we are planning to revamp the merit points as outlined below. As we have just begun to look into this there is a high chance it might change.

    Current:
    Effect duration: 1 minute
    Recast time: 15 minutes
    Each merit point reduces the recast timer by 2 minutes 30 seconds

    Adjustment plan:
    Effect duration: 3 minutes
    Recast time: 5 minutes
    Each merit point increases the Killer effect +2
    Definitely a Step in the right direction. I would've preferred however, if they split the +Damage Bonus and -Damage Taken effects into 2 new pet commands (Offensive and Defensive) and added them as a stance similar to summoner's "Avatar's Favor".

    For example
    "Offensive" stance
    Level 76+
    Recast: 1:30
    Duration: 3:00

    Consumes pet's TP: Grants a damage bonus to the attacks of party members in range of pet. Damage bonus varies based on TP and monster correlation.

    Increases party member's damage by 5% and an additional 1% for every 50 TP consumed from pet.

    0 TP: Damage Bonus+5%
    150 TP: Damage Bonus+8%
    300 TP: Damage Bonus+10%

    Correlation Bonus:
    Strong Correlation: Increase Effect by +50%
    (Damage Bonus+10% --> Damage Bonus+15%)

    Weak Correlation: Decrease Effect by 50%
    (Damage Bonus+10% --> Damage Bonus+5%)

    This way if you're using a lizard pet with 300 tp and activate the "Offensive" stance everyone in party near pet would gain Damage Bonus+10%. If party attacks a "Vermin" type monster, the bonus would increase to +15% more damage and if they attacked a "Beast" type monster, the bonus would be reduced to damage+5%.

    - Of course BST pets wouldn't be affected by the stances.
    - Add some gear that increases the stance bonuses.
    - Have stance stack with "Circle" abilities (Holy Circle, Arcane Circle, etc) but place a +25%/-25% cap on the +damage bonus and -damage taken effects.
    - Have Beastmaster's 2 HR increase the potency pass the cap.
    - Profit?

    How does me suggesting killer instinct being turned into a non-merit job ability have nothing to do with the planned killer instinct adjustment?

    Eh? you did w/ this bait'n'switch. Its a worthy enough idea and concept for a ja, but it has nothing to do w/ killer instinct or the planned changes.

    and a 2nd bait and switch w/ the follow up even. You did not make a suggestion to change killer instinct to a non-merited JA... you are talking about Bst pet's favor...

    Anyways, I think this is a nice idea giving the pets that Sphere type affect. It brings them more desirable in team situations. Granted I loved soloing my bst, but seems SE is going out of way to make bst rely totaly on jugs

    Let me explain since you don't seem to grasp it. The main "Juice" of Killer Instinct is the "Circle" bonus it offers, no one really cares about the intimidation effect.
    Circle bonus = Damage Bonus+15% and Damage Reduction-15% but this only applies when attacking enemies to which BST's pet has strong monster correlation.

    The suggestion I made would split the Damage and Reduction bonuses into separate stances/sphere/aura (w/e you wanna call it) effects:
    Offensive: Damage Bonus
    Defensive: Damage Reduction

    Basically the same as Killer Instinct... I do not know how to make it anymore clearer but if you still feel baited... I dunno what to say, I'm Sorry?

    Damage Bonus +15% and Damage reduction -15% for 3/5 mins against 1 type of foe
    Vs.
    Damage Bonus +X% OR Damage reduction-X% full time, with a 1:30 recast, works on all enemy types (potency varies by correlation and pet TP) and it stacks with other "Circle" abilities.
