Limit on the number of threads that can be created in a day.

Would it be possible to limit the amount of thread topics a poster can submit in a 24 hour period? Perhaps to 2 or 3? It's getting out of hand when the same poster can clog up the main page of the forum and pushing out actual topics that are meant for discussion.

And to further this, would it be possible to auto lock a thread after a certain amount of time? If a topic hasnt been posted in for lets say, 30-45 days, the thread should be moved to auto closed as it is then a dead topic. It makes it worse when not only a poster can post a lot of threads in a short time to clog up the main page, but also go back and necrobump their other threads in an attempt to do the same.

Yup...I made a mockery thread, completely in scope with the garbage he spams 5x a day, and then made comments about it, and was given 3 days because "it wasnt about FFXI, and it was downtalking another forum member", or something like that.

Imo, its prolly because in the very broadest sense his/her/its posts are 'about' FFXI and the forum admins are looking at each individual post in this light while simultaneously overlooking the the troll-ish nature of all of his/her/its posts as a whole.

Arguably, i'd say its a good representation of the old saying, "Not seeing the forest for the trees."

Either that or the combination of ppl assuming that everyone else is reporting him/her/its posts as spam and not doing so themselves and posters actually responding to him/her/it in the first place..

Agreeing with Kimble. No reason why both those suggestion shouldn't be implemented, they will help keep the forum tidy.

I like the ideas as well, but I think 1 new thread per 24 hour period is enough. And maybe make it 2 or 3 weeks instead of 30-45 days for threads to get auto-locked.

If you're going to go that strict, it should be per-forum section, not across the entire board. If I were to have multiple bug reports to fill out, it shouldn't take multiple days to do so.
