    Eyefinity Support

Is it possible that FFXI can run on multiple super wide screen? I have my PC setup on an eyefinity way, where I have 3 screens laying next to each other, this feature is available in FFXIV, however the option is not available for FFXI.

Can I expect any updates, or a way through this so I can enjoy my setup more? My current eyefinity resolution is 5760x1080.

    SedoSan,

Such a setup is not supported for FINAL FANTASY XI at this time. Should this change in a future update, it will be announced through the Official Website and the Official Forums. So we recommend keeping and eye out on both locations for any updates.

I would hazard a guess the hangup is with the way the overlay is done for FFXI--DX8, rendering to texture outside the normal frame buffer and all that mess (same reason AA doesn't work). If they ever give it the full rework to DX9, it might work somewhat in true fullscreen mode.

FFXI can use very wide resolutions spanning multiple screens (idk about multiple monitors on SLI, but it can when all three displays are on a single card). The problem is that the UI (Overlay) also spans the entire resolution and that only standard aspect ratios are supported for rendering 3D graphics (16:9, etc). To make it support multi monitor displays there would need to be an option to restrict the width of the UI to a specified horizontal resolution (so it would would only use the middle screen) and user defined aspect ratio for 3d rendering.

So say you had three 1440x1080 monitors you would set the Overlay to use a horizontal resolution of 1440 and then define the aspect ratio as 4:1

They'd probably want to add customizable "background" resolution to the setup util also. 1024x1024 stretched across three displays would look pretty ugly.

Speaking of which, they should allow custom background resolutions in the setup util already.
