Shiva forums look dead only two threads made there. I decided to visit FFXI at least for a month after an almost five year hiatus. Is there any semi active(more then one member on at a time, and talkative) Linkshells around on Shiva? Also what's the plan for leveling in today's FFXI from 75+.

I don't know of any decent Shiva shells, but levelling 75+ is mostly done in Abyssea, though there are camps outside of Abyssea where you can level.

Abyssea La Thiene Plateau tends to have worm parties and they're great for going 75 up to 99 (70+ with ACC food & gear), just make sure you're skilled up, maybe 240+, but with the right food, atmas, gear & sub I managed to get away with DRK with Scythe only at 200.

There's other Abyssea camps, such as Bluffalo in Aby Ulegeurand Range Dom Ops and the Dolls in Aby Altepa Dom Ops. I tend to stick with the worms myself.

As we've have had Grounds Tomes introduced and the ability to set pages to repeat, you can get pretty decent exp from the books in Bostaunieux Oubliette on leeches (page 4), it's an alternative to Abyssea and it's a good camp from level 60 to 99. Doing Abyssea camps means you get cruor as well as exp (and Dominion Notes if you do Dominion Ops), but of course, it's your choice. There's other camps of course, but I've listed the ones I do.

Pretty much any exp party these days are a burn of some sort, the classic ones are few and far between. Book burns (ones using Grounds Tome) give you loads of exp from completing a page (Bost caps at 4.1k exp per page), so you can get away with 1 or 2 exp per kill and have alliances of 18 people. So if you turn up to the camps with your flag up there's a good chance you'll get an invite within minutes. Longest I think I've had to wait was 35 minutes for a worms party.

abyssea kind of murdered big endgame shells, along with the lack of new HNMs and such. Voidwatch helped a little but it's not especially popular (mostly because of the loot system though- the battles are pretty fun for the most part)
