Am I the only one confused about how Carpenter's Landing works geographically?

This has bothered me for a long time.

To the east of Jugner, there's an entrance to Carpenter's Landing. There is also an entrance to the west of Jugner. Both of these entrances lead to different parts of the same map. There is a giant river running from SE to NW on this map... implying there should be a giant river running through the middle of Jugner Forest... but there are only some small creeks.

Furthermore, this river apparently leads straight to San d'Oria, which would imply the river should also continue through East Ronfaure... again, just small creeks.

Also, this entire zone is pretty much where Vunkerl Inlet should be. I thought at first perhaps it was the same river as the one found in Vunkerl, but it lacks the steep cliffs.

It seems like Carpenter's Landing defies the laws of physics and exists only in our hearts, or something metaphorical like that...

And yes, I put entirely too much thought into this.

Hidden in the Mountains, you have to pass through carpenter's landing (or at least the tunnels connect) to reach Vunkerl. The tunnel leading to san d'oria is either underground or is a non-linked tunnel in Ranguemont. It can fit, doesn't mean it does though. Goblins might know the truth.

The canals and fungus tunnels are all attached to Mario pipes just out of sight.

Maybe it goes underground East Ronfaure. You can board the barge from Northern San d'Oria to Carpenter's Landing and see the river there.

I like these kinds of topics that deal with the history, culture, and geography of Vana'diel. Interesting topic.

Carpenter's Landing is a wormhole thru the fabric of the Vanadiel space/time continuum.

10 years ago Squaresoft was great. 10 years ago Hironobu Sakaguchi left Squaresoft. 10 years ago Square's profits were at an all time high. In the last 10 years their profits have done nothing but decline. Coincidence, I think not. Do yourself and the fans a favor SE, bring back Sakaguchi. Bring back the awesome you once had.

If you have too much time on your hands (like I apparently do) you could make a connections map of the continent (like this). Overlaying the zone maps on the world map you can fit the coastal zones into their logical positions and then its just a matter of fitting the remaining zones in the space provided.

As you can see (if you look at the picture) there's no way for all the areas to be close to their respective zones in other areas; meaning there's a lot of convent tunnels and boring mountain passes that our poor characters have to run through during the loading screen.

So at first glance carpenter's landing makes no sense especially when you add in vunkerl inlet, but what you're not seeing is the four maps worth of uninteresting mob-free tunnels that you have to run through first.

    Or a wizard did it.
