I Totally LOVE the idea!!
I Totally LOVE the idea!!
"I refuse to be limited by conventional thinking."
Thinking further on the situation I've come up with a list based on various this and that's! Why didn't I think of it before?
Item requirements for the mog houses should go something like this:
First step:
Storage maxed out, Moogle mentions that keeping all of your stuff in one place is becoming a hassle to keep clean and orderly. He suggests expanding your home to include extra space for your things! But he needs materials.
60 pieces of lumber
40 ingots
40 animal glue
Various tools
A sum of gil
But I'll need help determining the further expansions and particular materials. What type of lumber and metal, plus what the requirements will be for say, two more phases, rank 6 and rank 10.
Naturally. o-o It's home expansion! Look earlier in the thread and you'll find furniture builders with lack of work to be done making furniture that shows up on the AH once in a blue moon and sells six months later on constant sale.
It'll also help metal workers and monster farmers and give the economy a kick in the pants or finally make you dust off your lumberjack hat. EITHER THAT, or SE might loosen up the daily supply amounts the guilds have of these supplies etc.
I still have to beat up people who are over charging ridiculously for gobby bag materials...

Something I threw together really quick... it's basically the current mog house adding two rooms on the left, and a staircase on the right... the stairs lead up to a loft which leads to a balcony (think of it as a Mog Penthouse)...
I think something like that would be neat.
Edit: Lots of added wall space... could probably get two items per wall in rooms A and B...
Didn't utilize the walls in the lower right hand corner because they may be obstructed by stairs... Maybe each room can have a targetable spot in a corner called "Mog Compartment" where you can store additional items.

Problem I see (perhaps not with the side rooms).
Perhaps instead of expanding to the side we could see expansion in the back of the rooms. Most places have fireplaces, Windy has the fountain. I do like that you took the window into consideration from the right side, but the stairs would impede normal floor space in the living area. Can you think of a work around? If the stairs went in the back of the room instead and say, spiraled one end of the room to the other to get to the loft in an arc, would that work perhaps?
The more ideas we have the better so let's get a bunch together!
Edit: Noticed the balcony idea. I like it! Actually having a view would be amazing. I honestly wonder how much work it would take to program this in... I mean, it would be generalized for each nation and all, so it might be easier that way, but still. If we over complicate things too much we're just making it more difficult to convince people.
EDIT edit: We should still poke a mod or Dev team member to scan through this forum.
So, we have the idea. We have growing concepts. We have a rough idea of what it might take. We have lots of people finding this forum and saying it would be great. Let's start pushing this idea a bit! There are mods flitting about here and there so why not find one and gently suggest finding this thread? Also, I can't imagine they pass by the suggestion boards without seeing it being bumped daily.. So if there is one hanging around pop in and give us your opinions and guidance!

I would completely LOVE having a crafting room that is affected only by the furnishings in it. A garden room for pots as well. It is hard to keep gardening up when you are doing smithing and use the fire etc for that craft. A living room that could be decorated any way you wanted with no regard for elemental influences and a bedroom for decorative purposes as well. I dont want my bed in my living room. It is just too odd. I would not mind having elemental influence on those rooms but separate from crafting. That way you could put garden pots in the bedroom if they did not give a separate room for that.
Being able to sit or lay on the furniture would be wonderful as well.
I do not think any of this would be simple. After the whole server move debate it has been made clear that not much about the game is simple. These mog house changes would be great though and there are a lot of us that would really appreciate it.
You know what would be cool is to add a whole new craft to the game. Building Contractors/Interior Decorators. I just know that the old school kill everything in sight gamers might not like the concept but this game is great in that it adds so much depth to the civilization.
This would be one more great addition and a whole new direction of thought and skills.
