[FFXI Background] Plate Armor should stay exclusive to PLD, DRK, WAR and DRG

Hi,

So this is a background question about FFXI, i noticed that since abyssea updates SAM, BST and others jobs can wear Plate Armor, till lv 75 SE cared about give appropriate type of armor per type of job,

so i just deplore this historic background is dead?

Can you realy imagine a real SAMURAI wearing this?

About the Traditional Samuraï armor theyr dont have the same look, but of course they are made for Samuraï...
But what Samuraï will say if PLD, DRK, WAR and DRG could wear this traditional japan armor?
This should hurt FFXI background in my opinion.

Samurai has always basically worn the same gear as everything else. Only the JSE is different, probably because they didn't feel like having exclusive gear designs for every job or it wasn't technically possible. That's really the only reason jobs share gear and weapons. I can only imagine how long it'd take the AH to load crap if every job had it's own gear from lv1 to 99. I agree I would love to see nothing but specific gear for each job with only the rings necks waists and ears being shared but we can't have everything, I guess.

SAM will soon be using mage gear, spells, healing magic and pets under the banner of balance.

Plate is the least of your worries.

Nobody really notices or cares, this is a fantasy game and they can do what they want. In general, the different archetypes of jobs get armor that makes sense, there are a few special exceptions for special cases (e.g. holy armor for WHM as an example) but for the most part, there isn't a problem here.

Yeah and in FF history Dragoons Paladins Knight Dark Knights and Warriors could wear Genji Armor, Power Gi and twist headbands.

The Development Bros decided to go mostly with plate armor as the standard graphic for "heavy" armor at some point rather than a hauberk with fixings or something more stylized. Thus, Samurai and Beastmaster are on some plate armor nowadays because they typically have access to "heavy" armor sets.

The jobs aren't on any new types of equipment, if you look at it in terms of the stats on the armor rather than graphically. The Development Bros just decided to change things up graphically by using plate armor models more often, and thus more jobs wear stuff that uses a plate armor model now.
