    Can we get a progress update on the new payment options? Almost 2 months now......

    Last official mention here on this topic was on 11/24, via the POL Topics page...

    Over on the FF14 side, it was mentioned on 12/16 they would be implementing new options around when that went Pay-to-Play (which took place on 01/06/2012)....

    It appears to be brewing as a common topic over on the FF14 side as well already, considering it's been a week since subscription fees started, and they've known this was a big issue for months now. I found one post over there that kind of summed it up nicely. Quoting from within Issacs post:

    Accepting payments is 100% SE's responsibility. To all these people claiming they have all these legal loops to jump through, reference yourselves to FFXI.

    If Click and Buy is not meeting the customer's demand to play the game, it is SE's responsibility to either quickly resolve said issue with CnB, or drop them for another method of payment.

    SE is a multinational company with a LOT of experience under their belt. Something like accepting payments for a product from their target market (globally) should have never been an issue. The fact that it is is completely embarrassing for their image. It is in their best interests to resolve this issue quickly, and professionally. Also, we should hold them to do so.

    If they don't want to allow their services to specific countries, they should release a statement saying such. Otherwise, they need to do the things mentioned above.

    sooo......what gives SE?

    Can we have some sort of update on where we stand on the issue of new payment methods?

    Not sure if you were just being sarcastic or trying to trolll.... but that isn't expected until 2013, and this change is already over 2 months past due from their initial projection and it's been almost 8 weeks since we last had any notice from SE in any official FFXI communications (roughly 5 weeks since it was mentioned exclusively in FFXIV communication).

    Please..... this is a SERIOUS issue for a fairly large section of the playerbase that has been rendered with no means to pay for FFXI since Labor Day. As a result, those people have no way to voice their concerns on these forums. Trying to get some much needed info out there on this important topic.

    So, please....everyone try to refrain from trolling. I know it may be hard for some to resist, but this IS an important issue that has an impact on SE's bottom line as well as the game's potential population that REALLY neeeds to be addressed.

    They're too busy giving the FFXIV playerbase Goobbue mounts to worry about getting this shit out to the masses that need it. No seriously they are actually making a Goobbue mount for FFXIV.

    It's pretty obvious at this point. We aren't seeing this promised payment additions not because they're slow or lazy or pathetic. It's because they are forced to wait it out for some dumb legal reason that has to do with something. We're in mid Jan now. There is no possible excuse except that they are held back by reasoning not of their control. It is not humanly possible to take this long to implement direct payment system into the SE account site. Japan had it right off the damn bat.

    It would be nice to get some kind of update on this. Are they even working on it at all? Do they have anything in the works for the customers that no longer have a means to pay or who have to jump through ridiculous hoops to do so? What about people's trust and security concerns with Click and Buy? This change was supposed to be about trust and security, wasn't it?

    This entire episode has been a huge negative mark on the perception of SE's customer service, which many already had a poor opinion of, and will continue to be so until acceptable payment options are introduced.

    My opinion is the only acceptable payment option is the simple direct payment option we used for so many years, but for some reason is no longer acceptable to SE except in Japan.

    When I pay for an online game like World of Warcraft or do business through a website like Amazon, I am able to simply, quickly, and cleanly set up my payment options directly on their respective websites without signing up for anything through a 3rd party. I cannot do that with FFXI. Why? Square Enix is not a small company or an ebay seller that must rely on a company like Paypal or Click and Buy to collect payments.

    Threads like this pop up every month and get bumped off the main page with no answer by hordecore troll threads and such. I would appreciate some sort of comment on this. It would be a nice change of pace from the typical translated answers to Japanese questions/concerns plugged into our threads. You know, some sort of indication that the community team is actually reading our stuff and relaying the message..............

    Any announcements regarding changes to what payment options are offered will be posted to the main websites for the respective games (www.playonline.com for FINAL FANTASY XI, lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com for FINAL FANTASY XIV). That being said, until such an announcement is made, we’re not able to provide any updates or comments as to what may be happening in the future.

    Furthermore, as we have pointed out in the past, this forum is for the discussion of technical issues as they relate to FINAL FANTASY XI itself, and not for account or billing related issues. Those concerns should be addressed directly to the SQUARE ENIX Support Center. As this thread is not related to actual technical issues with FINAL FANTASY XI, it has been closed.
