Waste? Why is it Wasted? You think doing more damage and being a better player is a waste? I see where you are coming from now.
I have 6 jobs, 3 of them macro geared (RDM, SCH, BST) and I have absolutely zero inventory problems. I can't fathom what you are doing wrong
edit: Question for you: Why do you REFUSE to play this game how it was designed? Do you know what you sound like when you post things like this?
You sound like someone who likes playing Call of Duty but only likes to kill people with judo chops and you feel the entire game should be that way.

but can you answer another question for me? Why do you treat keeping open inventory spaces as more important than being better at your jobs? I bet it pisses your teamates off

Before reading all these posts made by the OP'er, I was thinking they meant that each slot provided a separate inventory-like section (like satchel) but is limited to 16 pieces of gear. You use your WS, it would equip any gear you have in that inventory, use the WS, then change back.
From the example in the OP there could be up to 5 programmable inventory sections just for the WS's assigned, and if you wanted to set a different you would have to disable one you have set already. It could possibly be saved by job, but that would be a bit extreme (and I think this idea already is a bit extreme). You could carry up to.... 80 equipment pieces (16x5).
That is nothing more than another sack or satchel but is actually used by the game system to use for your WS's instead of just for storage.
Personally, I'm not against it. Yes, we can do everything just fine as it is... but I'm not against this idea. It is a perfect 80 so technically it wouldn't be impossible for SE to implement, it would take a lil bit more than just another sack to do but it could work.
I still don't think we need it though, but it is a good idea, troll idea or not.
What you just described is Windower macros, or just pressing 2-3 regular macros
edit: Also, I think SE said at some point that macros longer than 6 lines could not be supported, not sure how a gear set with this many changes would be implimented. In addition, if that equipment can be equipped, it may need to be considered as part of your main inventory because how the game works. That would push your inventory over 80 slots, which also cannot be done.
