Sadly, I have yet to find anyone at my job who knows about it, and most of my friends / family haven't heard either. They will probably pass this crap, and people won't realize until it's too late.

The governments of the world hates the net (western countries in particular), I'm amazed it's existed the way it is for so long. The ignorance of people in power has let it go on so long I guess.

They already have something vaguely similar in the UK but this is far worse, people will rage when they actually realise what it's going to do to thier day to day surfing experiences. Unless they are so ignorant that they think the errors they get trying to access certain sites are just normal connection problems/problems with the sites.

Writing was on the wall about the internet when it started becoming so popular, what's the point with the gov controlling the news media when people can get around it so easily online, or when big business looses revenue from internet piracy (big business > you).

This shit matters? So you think discussing it here will what, raise people's awareness? Or do you think discussing it here will actually change something? You're just frustrated about it and spam several forums to vent your anger, that's all there is to it. Nothing good will come of this. Don't get me wrong, not much bad will come from it either. Nothing will really come of it, and that's my point, posting this here is useless.

The reason political and religious threads aren't allowed is simlpe, because players will get in a heated debate and it will always, inevitably, lead to flame, insults and hitler-comparisons. If they wanted us to talk about that stuff, they'd have an off-topic forum, but they don't. This simply isn't the right place to discuss it.

This has nothing at all to do with FFXI. I don't even see why people feel a need to discuss it here. What do you think will come of it?
