Putting unnecessary restrictions on the system is completely arbitrary and only adds a layer of inconvenience. Porter moogles are definitely a good addition, but why not design it even better?
the key items thing isnt possible since the data for which items are being stored can be attached to an item, but not a key item, hence why when storing armors before you had to store the whole set

however I agree with everything else you said
