There's no purpose behind doing it now. They added the trials for the +1's a long time ago, and many people did them a long time ago. Those people were rewarded for previous effort by a reduced cost to upgrade to +2. That's the only reason, it's not worth doing now, just let it go so maybe the devs can focus on doing something good with their time.
