So it's hard if you go in with x6 PUP, gotcha.
You don't get anything special for not using the item so why not use it to get past it. Guess what everyone can get one.
People have killed him easily with the rat tail and without. Tail =/= win. I wish people wouldn't think that just because you have six tails you have a surefire win the same way I wish people wouldn't lock certain job spots in. As said before; it can be cleared by any group with some actual thought and preparation. If it's really that bad, maybe wait a few days to a week and collect some better gear? It won't kill you to maybe go out and cap some weapons and collect a few better things then try again with less hassle and headache.
I did :/ but considering the people complaining about it and the 'conditions' they consistently lose in, I can't have nothing but contempt for them. Or pity. Probably pity.
If you're consistently losing this fight without attempting a new strat, a change of setup etc., The problem may not the BC and may lie with you and your group.
Maybe 5 pups + Scholar, have Sch (with good enhancing magic) give you enfire + firestorm, + stoneskin + embrava + ice spikes, use 3 blms pup and 2 whms frame just in case - make sure all automaton have enthunder and you are capped hand to hand, eat attack food. Howling Fist that shitaru and use your rarab tail. That may work - until he starts one shot each pups. You can also switch Sch with a Summoner if you wanna play it safe - and go Enfire Ifrit, Ice Spike Shiva, Fenrir buff, and Perfect Defense.
The tail should give the taru mnk (maat's master, and bb quest npc) the terror effect, not make him run all over. The fights only 10 minutes long, having the mnk run away is a pretty dumb idea for an enfeeblement.

Refarming another bone and fang then going to go level a different job. -.- I am still really disappointed but going off ain't going to do crap to get through to people so just going to go back to working on pup. If any one on my server wants to redo this fun fight I'd be more then willing to go, hell I'd be estatic, but already I've read that for the most part once people got done they aren't touching him again from my server so oh well. Think I'll ask a friend to duo with me to 95 then we will farm our gear, weapon trials, and reskill/ merit out our jobs. (whm/sch & pup/whm or pup/blm or pup/dnc or pup/nin) For the most part me and him been old schooling it so we learn the jobs screw that aby burning nonsense. No offense to aby burners I just believe learning the job makes the difference over burning and not knowing how certain skills work.
Thanks guys for your help in strats by the way. Most of you were really nice. Have fun at 99 and hopefully one day see you all there myself. XD
I found this fight challenging but in a good way in a "Hey you need to analyze and think before you attempt this fight" kind of way.
Personally i think any Seasoned Adventurer will have little trouble overcoming this fight.
Maybe that's why the item you need is called a "Seasoning stone" ( 'v')b
Maybe you're losing because you need more time in the cooking pot? Maybe it's because you're not quiet ready yet.
I want to thank the Dev. team for going back to the way the game should be. I want a challenge, i want to scream
at my screen and say "DUDE WTH... NOOO" because if a game cant challenge you then it is not a game. Abyssea is not a game. Abyssea is the Sandbox of FFXI a tool to let players enjoy the game without the hardcore challenges that the full game provides.
If something like the Limit Break 10 Battle makes players quit then the community is better off without that player.
If you need something to be angry about talk about the so-called "easy-item" that is suppose to make the fight easier.
my team ended up not using it because of what it does.
and that's Cyrusskorrey's two cents.
