Improved Update Downloads

So, when are we going to get faster and more reliable content update downloads? The current method, which is the only official method, is hideously slow and prone to interruption. The current December 14, 2012 update is 137.1 MB for the Windows Version. According to the Playonline viewer, my update will take approximately 4 hours to download on a 10 Mbs connection.

That's not at all comparable with any other game or online service I have utilized since I've had this connection. My connection is very stable and consistent.

Extremely slow downloads and POL connection error messages are nothing new. Update downloads have been terrible since I started playing in 2004, and even on a faster connection I see no improvement.

Again I ask, when (not if) will action be taken to fix this issue?

I think I know the answer I will receive, but it can't hurt to ask.

the network segments are always oversaturated on the evening of update release. It is not an uncommon problem. Even Microsoft's servers sometimes would get bogged on the day a major update was released--many just didn't realize it so much because they have so much more bandwidth to work with. It's fairly common practice to throttle connections out of Japan to preserve the availability--the busier things get, the harder they may clamp down on that client's traffic to keep it from thrashing the nodes.
