    FFXI Error - 3215 ?

    Help required please.
I usually play FFXI on Xbox but have just purchased a laptop so thought why not and splashed out on the 'Ultimate Collection' which I downloaded from 'GamesPlanet' and which I have now installed on the aforesaid laptop, however . . .

While it appears that FFXI, and the 3 add-ons, CP, SA and Moogle Kupo d'Etat have installed as I can access them via my Xbox, ToAU, CoP, WotG and the Aby Trio have not and because of this I am unable to play the game on my computer !
[I should just add that I have registered the code for both the game and the bonus Destrier Beret on my official SE member page, no problems there]
When trying to login on my computer I get the error code 3125, anyone else had this problem, if so is there a fix please ?
    In anticipation, many thanks !
    Jon

PS. I have now contacted SE [Glasgow,UK] Support 3 times & whilst they are very pleasant they are unable to provide a solution. I really think SE you need to ensure that any staff you have employed to assist customers should have at the least minimum training, especially when we are paying premium rates for the calls !
Not one of your staff during the 3 calls was aware that the 'Ultimate Collection' was only available as a download not on disc.
I also object when I am lied to, the young lady who assured me she would reply with a solution yesterday still has not . . .

When you are at the title screen for FFXI, are all the expansions lit up (none dimmed/grayed out). Just want to make sure it's not an issue with your registration codes.

If they are lit, it could be one of two things. Communication problems, or the install knackered up and you need to remove/reinstall--if you have to go this route, copy your ROM folders off to another location first so you can pull them back in after reinstall (will cut out most all of your update time).

As for the communications, if you set up port forwarding to the console, than some of the pushed data is likely not getting to you. Simple way to test that is to manually change the IP of the laptop to that of the console (remember, doing this means you can't have them both up at the same time). If you are having to use port forwarding--this might put you in a pickle if you were hoping to dual box. If you are wanting to run FFXI on both systems at the same time like that, you would probably want to just have the ports open as a pass through at your router's firewall (you might have to simply disable some security on your router if you can't simply open the ports in this scenario). Otherwise, you will have to re-config something each time you change platforms if you are dependant on the port-forwarding for the game to work (I've never had to set it up on my el-cheapo linksys from Wal-Mart, so you could try jsut disabling the forwarding I guess).

You also should look into what is going on with your locally installed security--as in your firewall. Comodo, ZoneAlarm, or the built in Windows Firewall. May want to go ahead and just create the exceptions for the SE servers to nip that in the bud I guess. Here are two blocks that I have found that are leased by SE. Yes, these are their IP's--firewalls have blocked addresses in these ranges in the past, and I have pulled up the registration info on both of these blocks in the past to confirm them:

    202.67.48.0 - 202.67.63.255
(this has various SE servers like DNS, E-mail, etc)

    124.150.152.0 - 124.150.159.255
(various game specific servers--found IP's blocked when FFXI would have connection errors)

Just to reassure any doubters, these are the reports for these blocks:

This info can be easily retrieved from various DNS/WhoIs lookup tools. I just pulled these up fresh from www.ip-adress.com/whois.

    Hi Raist,
Many thanks for your most informative reply, I'm sorry to say the expansions you mention are lit up when I access the game from my xbox so no problem or confusion there with registration I assume. I didn't have the 3 add-ons, [Moogle, SA or CP] on xbox, they came with the Ultimate Collection and I can access them now.
My laptop however is still only showing that I do not have any expansions installed only the base FFXI and I am in the process of looking at the router etc, settings you suggest above.
The Rom file you mention is 5.16GB from the parent file Playonline/FFXI, also in this folder are Rom 6, Rom 7 and Rom 8, am I maybe missing Rom 1-5 ?
I am still hoping that SE will actually write to me as they promised but won't hold my breath waiting . . .
    My thanks again !
    Jon

yep... definately sounds like you are missing a lot of files. It should be in the neighborhood of 7 or 8 GB in just the ROM folders alone (although, some of what is on my system could be legacy crud that SE never cleaned up after their installs). Should be a lot of folders that are just numbers (189, 190, 191... up to 197), an OEM folder, then ROM and ROM2 through ROM7, 6 sound folders (sound and sound2 to sound6) and then the SYS, TEMP, and various Tools and a USER folder, as well as a bunch of individual files (mouse cursor files, some log files, executables, etc). In total, its just over 10.5 GB for my entire folder.

It sounds like the install didn't install specific expansions. Browse the folder where the installer is to see if they may be seperated with individual install or setup.exe files. You might be able to find one that installs JUST RotZ, CoP, TAU, and WotG that way and step through the expansions you are missing one at a time until it is fixed.

    Edit:
eh.. just pulled out my archived DLC from Gamestop I got last year on the $5 sale....it is just one installer with a handful of ~2GB data files. you may not have individual installers in your version either. Might want to fire up the main installer and see if it has a way to do a custom install where you select just the expansions you want to install and step through it that way.

    Hi Raist,
You sir are an absolute peach and I take my cap off to you !

"It sounds like the install didn't install specific expansions. Browse the folder where the installer is to see if they may be seperated with individual install or setup.exe files. You might be able to find one that installs JUST RotZ, CoP, TAU, and WotG that way and step through the expansions you are missing one at a time until it is fixed".

The only way I could find the installer was in the original set-up folder, so I opened etc, and suprise, suprise, there were the FFXI and other expansions/add-ons with FFXI showing as installed but the others not.
It took mere moments to install my missing parts and I now have a fully playable game with access all areas !
I need an extra large cloth to wipe the half-ton of egg of my face as I had obviously installed FFXI but in the excitement of the 9+ hour download forgotten to reload/restart set-up and install the other add-ons.
Doh, silly me eh ! [no fool like this old fool . . . ]

Once again my thanks and sorry to have wasted your and SE's time, I must apologise to them also next time I call support . . .
