SCH AF 1 quest, Bastok CS

I`m trying to do the SCH AF quests. Currently on AF-1 "On Sabbatical".
Managed to get thru the Eld.Nec. CS without any problems, went to Bastok, spoke to Gentle Tiger and initiated the next CS.

At midpoint of the conversation with Nicolaus, there's a screen pause after he says the professor had disappeared before and he was the one who found him, the game crashes and the following message appears:

Terminated as error occured in Final Fatasy XI.
An error occured.
Please reset your console: 414694.

Playing on PS3 (PS2 emulation) with a 15mbs internet connection.

How can such problems still exist in quests that have been around for 2 years ?
How do I get thru this ?

Ran "Check Files": No Problems were found.

more like 4 I believe. WOTG came out in 2007 and the af gear was introduced in early 2008 (if I got the dates correct in my head)

This is why I pc mmo games. Consoles, for all thier advances, just cant compete with pc yet for games like this

ps Not slamming consoles. I just prefer pc's for mmo games. They seem to run better for me on the pc ^^
