It's just a matter of changing the spaghetti code to make these items sellable to npc - they are not doing it yet because of "LOL-Balance" or "not have enough manpower" to tweak. My guess is to save it for the next update when it become moot point so that each version update, you can feel something has been updated. Where are these so called faster mini monthly updates they have been talking about. With a test server we should get a lot more mini updates every month or so.

I know i remember reading about the augmented weapons and the conflict with the cost to purchase them vs. reducing the rate of gil return for them if sold to an npc, but SE said at the time they would just make them cost more in dom op notes to make it fairer to the crafted versions. I'd still like the rare/ex gear to be able to be sold to the npc's in jueno or wherever you do your middle of the night pawn action.

It encourages you to explore the whole breadth of content rather than asking you to bumrush and bypass all the old content just so you can grind the newer content. This is a model used by other MMOs such as WoW, and while I don't have anything against people that enjoy this model, if I wanted to play an MMO with that model there are many, many games vast superior to XI in terms of mechanics and especially customer service that offer such a model.
