This may been asked while back, but does steal get any kind buffers or what ever by what side of a monster you steal from? Say stealing behind or infront of creature affect in anyway?

I believe all rumors regarding stealing from any direction or right after TP moves or when mob is low on HP or when wearing a Snow Bunny Hat or whatever are wrong. I used to steal a lot when I farmed SSG and I didn't notice anything particular about stealing, just seemed to be random.

All affirmations are true in some sense, false in some sense, meaningless in some sense, true and false in some sense, true and meaningless in some sense, false and meaningless in some sense, and true and false and meaningless in some sense.

I thought this would be a thread about what direction SE is taking with the steal ability. Someone should make anothe rone of those.

From my extensive experience with steal. Every mob has a steal resist rate. For instance Saghains have a relatively low resist rate and stealing coins from them in SSG to open doors is really easy and then Brigandish Blade has probably the lowest steal resist rate in the game. QQ Astologer and Treasure hunter in Salvage also have a really low resist. The game measures w/e that resist is vs. your steal level from gear and w/e random stat may or may not affect it and then rolls some dice. Like arcon said I don't think anything else at all affects it. If there was anything in the game worth stealing I'm sure there would be more testing.

People often feel that stealing out of sight of the monster's eyes(side or behind) means you're success rate goes up or something because it's so bad from the front but I can say fairly confidently that after 3534627 failures from behind that it doesn't increase your success rate. If it does it's not enough of a boost to warrant testing it. Steal sucks and I can basically forget the JA even exists. Same with hide because it doesn't always work and despoil and mug and more or less perfect dodge. Pretty much everything except sub job JAs and SATA I can forget about. Yeah playing THF is the best thing ever because having low supplies of beastcoins and shit on AH and mugging 20 gil is BALANCE.

No cure V and VI for RDM SCH is BALANCE.

100 merit sucky WSs is BALANCE.

SAM GK merit WS is JUSTICE.

    Nerfs are BALANCE.

    1500 metal plates is BALANCE.

500 drops from PW is BALANCE.

Letting RMT run wild again to the point of being in Abyssea and leveling crafts and Synergy for cheap to make and sell VW gear but never taking the time to HQ it or don't know how(lol)is BALANCE. Btw these insane magian trials for the ultimate weapons that conveniently have drops that can be purchased in bazaars only motivates RMT to exist and people to buy their shitty gil. Good job at ruining all of your hard work fighting them in the name of time sinkingbalance.

I could literally go on for another half hour with examples so anyways.
