    POLneeds this feature

SE Could we please have it so that when we have to do an entire Operating System Reinstall, and have our game files on separate drive, that we can point POL (after reinstalling it) to our install of FFXI, so we don't have to wipe our current updated install? or at least a small setup program that will point windows to the files already installed? Granted I probably could have copied the updated files to a new folder then rewrote over it after doing the installs, but having a small install program that points to the installation or having POL be able to find the install on it's own would be wonderful and save us some hassle.

    Please and Thank you!

Install FFXI again (no updates, just basic installation, doesn't take long), copy the old files to the new location, hit "Check files" and you're there (after maybe 15min, or however long it takes to check the files). It's still not quite as good, but with SE I'm pretty sure it's as good as we're gonna get.

POL needs this feature: the ability to not be needed at all.

POL/FFXI directory listings are stored in your registry. You can open that up and redirect where it looks for files.

Why this isn't all just stored as a config file within the POL directory is beyond me though. Easy way of dodging user-access right conflicts perhaps given how Win XP/Vista/7 all handle that differently?

I tried editing the registry to point to my new file locations last time. It sort of worked, but it was a bit messy. I think i'll just install POL + the vanilla game, then copy over the old files from my previous installation again next time. It's easier in my opinion.

I have been backing up my install directory for awhile and moving it around computers... just install base and rotz (because they need to set up registry keys for the game) and then just copy the files back... takes me 7 min to sign on after the first boot of a fresh install of the OS...
