    Concerning Additional Effects

Hello, as most people know the game only supports one additional effect at a time.
I feel that this really hurts weapons that were obviously meant to be powerful that are used on jobs with en-spells such as Twilight Scythe, Excalibur, Sagasinger, Ephmeron etc.

I'm guessing that adding more than one additional effect per hit would be difficult so maybe changing the priority so that weapons have a chance to proc before en-spells would be the best option. This would be a fix I'm sure a lot of players would appreciate to make their hard earned weapons retain their special qualities. Thank you for your time and please respond one way or the other if possible.

Since the en-spell procs every swing while "death" only has a chance to proc. ;p

I also don't understand why they're hate free. No job that has to worry about enmity is going around swinging at the mob anyway

    The additional effect?
I'm not sure but in case SE counts additional effects as magic to it will generate hate but on a lesser base.
Otherwise it could (also speculation) be that the game only counts the first type of enmity per swing and that would be physical and not magical/additional.

    *Cough*

    History lesson time.

Long Long time ago, in a Van'adiel far far away. Additional effects were handled differently.

Add effects used to be counted completely separately from the main hit they came from, they gave the monster 10tp per proc (same as damaging magic). We didn't have the testing mechanisms in place to determine if they counted for hate, but wouldn't surprise me if they did. During this era a RDM with a sword was indeed "feeding TP" as the monster got TP from the main hit and TP from the enspell proc. When SE changed the TP system they eventually got around to changing this and additional effects stopped giving the monster TP. Unfortunately the myth of "RDM's just feed the monster TP" stuck around and nobody every remembered ~why~ that started in the first place.

Hmm... but still now clue how it works right now.
But comparing 2 identical jobs one with and one without additional effect would be good.
I guess there won't be a significant difference.

Ohh now we know. Add effects do not create hate nor do they give TP.

Any pld with excalibur can tell you that add effects dont generate hate. And theres nothing saying that the add:death effect on scythe has lower precedence than endark...unless you have a large parse proving otherwise.
