I used to LOVE merit parties. A chance to show off/test out your newest armor and parse the party to see who did the best. I definitely wish there was something like that now. I suggested PvP as a possibility in another thread, but we've seen that fail a few times now (even though I totally loved Brenner for the week people did it).
On the note of people not knowing how to play their jobs, at least merit/xp parties used to get them boo'd out or kicked from the party for sucking. Now people show up at 95 and think that having a level 85 empy makes them compete with everyone else who has one, or at least that the other 17 people in the alliance will cover for them. I'm a fan of the school of hard knocks in this game :-)
To stay on topic though, I think we will have plenty of places to use our merits, we just need places to show them off and test them out.
P.S. Anyone ever log onto battle.net for the first time in Warcraft 3 and realize that they had NO IDEA how bad they were compared to the rest of the world. Go internet!
In other words, all non SAMs, RDMs, WARs and DRGs got booed out and kicked for sucking. On the note of people not knowing how to play their jobs, at least merit/xp parties used to get them boo'd out or kicked from the party for sucking.
No thanks. At least any job can play in an exp party now. Nobody deserves to be kicked just because you dont like their gear or dont do as much damage as you. Being kicked for being a jerk is different, though.
My take on the matter:
If your PUP can keep up with my COR/SAM/MNK, stay in. If you're parsing less than half of my COR, get the hell out and stop wasting my time.
I'm job blind. All I care about are results. If you can't get those results, you can walk, no matter what job you're on.
I will have my revenge!
