Can this game be played on new PS3 models?

Hello. I currently play on xbox 360, and because of the issue with Besieged I am considering buying a PS3 to play on. I remember being told b4 that certain PS3 systems wont play it and was wondering if that issue have been resolved? If not and I had to resort to getting a used system, how would I know which system to buy?

The answer is "no." The "issue" is that Sony removed backwards-compatibility with the PS2 from the PS3 years ago. As this was (mostly) done as a cost-cutting measure, it will probably never be put back in.

Don't expect a back-compat model to be cheap, and don't expect it to last long; they suffer from Sony's version of the RRoD: the Yellow Light of Death.

Thanks for the info. guess another option is to use my laptop, but not comfortable gaming on it. Would be nice if they would look into why the game freezes in besieged. Guess i'll figure something out...

I'm actually a little curious why you would be less comfortable playing on a lap than a console. If its the controller issue than you can pick up a nice logitech one for rather cheap. I personally plug my laptop into my TV with an HDMI cable (which aren't that expensive anymore). So I think the only difference from console vs. laptop is how you "customize" your setup with a laptop.
