Every person I know who works on a MMO either as a developer or a GM/Community Member has had to display a detailed knowledge and understanding of the game during their interviews; you really won't get the job without it. I don't think our Community Team's credentials are in any doubt.

The question you should be asking is not if the developers play, but if the operations team plays.

if i remember correctly tanaka and/or sundi both had their hands directly in DRK1-75's development, moreso then any other job in the game
