    Two problems, one post ;;

    When i boot up ffxi i keep getting the tetra master configuration popping up , i have to cancel it twice before the pol viewer will load. It started a week or so ago. In addition I can not receive or send messages in game or out of it. I get a failed to send (19) when i try to send one in game. When i try to read one it just shows i don't have have from the sender. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Cierra,

    In regards to the first problem you are experiencing, could you please clarify what exactly you are doing when you say “boot up ffxi”? This will help us troubleshoot that problem. As for the “Failed to send (-19) error you are receiving, please follow the steps below:

    1. Delete the following folder “/PlayOnline/SquareEnix/PlayOnlineViewer/usr”
    2. Restart the PlayOnline Viewer
    3. It will start up a windows installer window (at least under WinXP), let it finish and it will prompt you to insert the PlayOnline/TetraMaster install CD.
    4. Insert that CD and click “Browse” and click on the .MSI file it looking for and click ok to continue the install (the file is on the root of the POL install cd)
    5. It will then bring up the POL network and update window, click to update and if POL is already current it will prompt you to restart POL.
    6 Restart POL, you will then need to click on the option for POL members and then enter in your account name and password.
    7. Once logged into POL all that left to do is go into Mail under Navigator and change the account name from the Default Playonline to your playonline account name/#.

    Cierra,

    We’re glad that you were able to resolve the messaging problem. In regards to the problem you are experiencing with the Tetra Master Configuration program launching, we’re still trying to discern what could be causing this problem.

    To clarify, what you are experiencing is that you double-click on the shortcut for the PlayOnline Viewer, but the Tetra Master Configuration Tool is what opens? When you say you ‘have to cancel it twice,’ does this mean that the first two clicks double-clicks on that same PlayOnline Viewer icon will launch the Tetra Master Configuration Tool, but the third click on the same icon will load the PlayOnline Viewer? Or does the Tetra Master Configuration Tool open itself twice from the first click on the short-cut, and then the PlayOnline Viewer launches without any further clicking?

    Mr. SE_James, I don't know if you are aware of this (probably are but I'll mention it anyway), but on some regional variations of Windows, the folders for installed programs and data are laid up with translated names. For my country for example (Brazil) it's "Arquivos de programas" which seems to confuse the automatic launcher for Final Fantasy XI.

    Because I run an english OS I don't run on that specific kind of problem but because I am using an Japanese account I had to keep a Japanese copy of the PlayOnline software installed on the PC and again that was causing conflicts with the automatic launcher.

    Now that account is managed through a web browser I have no need to keep the Japanese copy of PlayOnline, which should make things simpler.

    As per the message problem I had it twice and managed to repair following the same process (months ago, I had to figure out the process of repairing myself as this forums did not exist back then) and I was VERY SAD for having to give up my messages history, email boxes, wallpapers, gift cards and history for years of activity. At least I was able to keep my screenshots because they're standard JPEG files.

    It's a pity that some of the POL wallpapers I lost can no longer be downloaded from the service.
