Sounds like:
"I've never played but I'm gonna say it sucks because someone else in FFXI said it sucks" or
"yeah I played it once, I got to lvl 2 and it was boring so I quit" or
"it looks like a cartoon because my PC is as powerful as a toaster and my FFXI looks like legos".
Take your pick.
Because we surely wouldn't want FFXI to become too much like WoW now would we? SE should get rid of:
quests, mobs, money, auction houses, buildings, swords, daggers, staves, bows, clubs, armor, crafting, parties, magic, dragons, GMs, players, pvp, zones, servers, cities, towns, boats, airships, trees, the sky, the ground, and the million other things that both games have in common.
~ The OF motto ~
If someone has more gil than me, they bought it.
If someone outclaims me, they're botting.
If someone is more successful than me, they cheat.
With the access to outpost warp, abyssea warp and voidwatch warp as well as teleport earrings, I can count the times I need a chocobo in a month on one hand. And I'll still have some fingers left over. There is no need for a "flying mount".
Can we at least have flying pigs! ... or pandas!!!? o.o
No. Flightless chocobo's only.

Regardless, all trolling aside.
What's most likely to put a stop for this is each zone's level design. The zones are not designed to be accessible from the air, and SE is probably not interested in readjusting the zones for such stuff.

Tarus can't even climb small bumps in the terrain, or even climb stairs in Ordelles and you think flying mounts are possible?
