One Video Card to Rule Them All!!

    Details:
Trying to play FFXI and FFXIV on the Same PC Setup. Can't seem to find a working driver that supports both. Is anyone out there playing both games well on the same PC and if so what cards are you using.

    Steps Taken:
I have played with my ATI drivers recently in an attempt to get FFXIV working better. Seems I will have to go back a few drivers if i want to play FFXI again on my best rig, making FFXIV run poor again, so I wont.
I've now been play on my other PC that also rips the system requirements of this game to shame runs on nVidia but still seems to have in game framrate issues of it's own.

    Date and Time:
    Oct. 25, 2011 - Oct. 29, 2011

    Platform:
    3 PCs

    PC Manufacturer & Model Number:
    Alienware AREA51 (i7)
    Alienware M11x R1 (Core 2 Duo)
    Dell Studio XPS16 (i7)

    OS:
All PCs running Windows 7 64-bit

    Graphics Cards:
2 Radeon HD 6970 in CrossfireX
    nVidia 335m
    ATI 4650

    My Thoughts On This:
SE needs to realize that the people that want to play FFXIV are mostly FFXI players!!! We need a compatible driver for the new graphics cards we are buying for both ATI and nVidia. I play on both cards and both run just OK or not at all.
All 3 of my PCs run countless new games at sic FPS, this includes other new and old MMOs and the new BF3 ALL ON All MAX settings.
Fix these games, don't just tell us after 1000+ days logged on our FFXI play clocks that the cards and new PCs that many of your best fans have recently forked out A TON of money for just to play Square-Enix's new XIV (you know, the game that needs all the players it can get atm, isn't running without screen tear in fullscreen Crossfire & I have to start paying to play next month even though) isn't approved for XI. Especially if I have been playing on this card for over 8 months and never had these probs until now.
XI is imo the best mmo ever and needs to shine on new hardware. XIV is shaping up great and is going to have a bright future but please.... Get them running on new hardware or new content is just a waste of your time. The game may be 8 years old but the content is new and the players are sticking around showing support and interest and continuing to play. We shouldn't need 2 PCs to enjoy both of SEs MMORPGs! One over priced tower that plays everthing else under the sun shoud do just fine!
I will be posting this in both the XI and XIV forums in hopes that the development teams of both games hear the crys of this long time SE MMO gamer!

What's also weird is that FFXI is sold on Steam; Steam advises its users to frequently update their graphics cards for optimum performance when buying games via their network. I can imagine that most Steam users always keep their drivers updated for the latest releases, and there is even an update option for it under the File menu. I would not expect someone to degrade their drivers just to play this game; for some people, they have to update their drivers for compatibility issues with other certain games they might have on Steam. And yet, SE says to us not to update our drivers past a certain point for normal performance in FFXI.

Quite simply, this game needs more support when it comes to drivers.

ATI doesn't care if an 8 year old DirectX 8 game has problems with their latest drivers. It's simply not a priority for them. The real solution here is for SE to update FFXI to DirectX 9 or 10.
