WAR is easier to gear? How so? Because WAR doesn't need 5hit? Even still it's not like buying tyrant ring hygenia stone and dusk gloves and getting +2 is hard. Maybe getting rose strap is "hard" because of the time you need to put into it, but in some ways the simplicity of Masamune makes up for it. SAM also has much more accessible PDT gear (15% from just head and body), and the rest is nearly, if not completely, the same as WAR.
I don't know getting an Armada Hauberk is still more of a pain than anything SAM has to get gear wise.
I know I got my NQ Ebody from Odin like 2 years ago, but that's assuming anyone does Einherjar. I don't know anyone on my server that does Einherjar maybe when they revamp Einherjar there will be more people doing it. On top of all that there's still the fact of buying a Cursed Hauberk -1. Just pointing out there's way WAR is easier to gear than SAM.

I'm pretty excited for the revamp, personally. Einherjar was one of my favorite events at 75 cap. Short, sweet, fun, and with my all-time favorite FFXI loot system.
It shouldn't be too bad to set up a static group, though. Lamps are really cheap now. My shell still does Einherjar once a week for fun, and typically lets people tag along for ichor if they ask nicely.
Not true at all I play with 2 perfect geared. Ukon WARs everyday and they can be outdamaged by my perfect geared SAM and my perfect geared DRK outside.
SAM gear comes from many places. My TP set uses gear from salvage, abyssea, CB, CoP, KCBC, WoE and crafting.
WAR is almost all easy to get abyssea gear.
I enjoy WAR myself and have everything except Ukon but down playing SAM outside is just silly.
