So if I get a wireless adapter for my ps3 controller it's relatively painless to setup?

I haven't looked into the wireless method. Probably need a blue tooth adapter or something.
I just plug it in via USB with the software called "MotionJoy".

There's a guide for PS3 and Motionjoy on google and it's pretty simple.

I think if you want to use wireless pad for FFXI,logicool wireless gamepad F710 is better for your need.
It can change XBOX mode and PC mode.

A controller works just fine when you want to lean back and fish or farm or whatever for a few hours. It's not like you can't switch to the keyboard whenever you want.

I only agree as far as FPS's go. FFXI has the most retarded keyboard controls that I've ever seen in any game.

Try the Compact keyboard layout. It gives you controls more like other PC games (WASD move, IJKL camera).

Does it work for the wired controller also? And would it let you change the home button to a keyboard scancode or something similar? I'd like to be able to actually do something with that dumb button.
