As of 10/24/11, the pax grip's -10hp is active while under level sync for the halloween event, which is level one. I noticed it as my elvaan whm mule had 6hp at level 1 for the event to get the erie cloak in west sartabarta, and after removing several gear pieces I narrowed it down to the pax grip.
