Gear update help :'(

Hi guys ^^


I downloaded the last motenten's spreadsheet for pup 95 and i'm trying to improve my sets outside abyssea. Atm, my best TP combo is :

Vere 90 (dont have the 95 yet /cry) - xxx - Animator +1 (dont have the deluxe) - oils
AF 3+2 head - rancor collar - Brutal - Bruiser (i already use the mooshade earring for a mage job)
AF 3+2 body - AF 3+2 hands - rajas - epona
pantin cape - twilight belt - AF 3+2 legs - af 3+2 feet (the DPS was inferior with a haste +2 feet)

Any idea of gear to improve this set ? I tried with few earrings (aesir, kemas), with an other ring (oneiros), with few necks (faith, agasaya), but all had an inferior DPS.

About the WS gear, my best combo outside abyssea is :

Vere 90 - xxx - animator +1 - oils
MKE head (4 STR, 15 acc, 2% WS dmg) - rancor collar - Brutal - Vulcan pearl
AF 3+2 body (dont have toci) - AF 3+2 hands - Pyrosoul - pyrosoul
Potentia - pipilaka - alcide +1 (dont have usukane) - af 3+2 feet

Here again, do you have any idea to improve this set ? I tried with few necks (ire +1, faith, gorget), with few bodies (Ocelomeh +1, juogi +1, usukane, alcide +1), with few rings (rajas, epona), with few backs (pantin, vellaunus), with few belts (elemental, beir +1), but again they all had an inferior DPS

I feel like you are trolling/bragging...If none of the gear in the spread sheet is better why bother asking other than to show off your gear sets?

Trolling aside I am not sure on your numbers because I am elvan, but I use r curry buns, and put merits into str if you want to be a perfectionist.

For my setup, ws set:
Use bruiser instead of vulcan
Toci
rajas+epona > 2x pyrosoul
pantin > potenia
ele belt > all other

Because you misunderstood.

The spreadsheet only have few gears in it (the same gears since the lev 90 kinda), if i created this topic, it was more because 1) i only added the gear i knew (maybe you can have a better result with a gear that i missed), 2) because i wanted a confirmation since i had some strange results with this file (like until now, everybody said me to not use the full af 3+2, because it was better to use a haste +2% feet, and for the first time, i have a source which said something different).

Actually the 2) was more for you, because i remember you posted something about an other spreadsheet (i mean made by an other guy), but i was not able to find the topic where you talk about it (i wanted to PM you but this forum doesnt have the option to do it /cry).

It's interesting to see the result with the bruiser for ws, i was far away to consider it as a ws earring. With the change you said i almost have the same result that you, except for the ring (pyrosoul + rajas seems better that pyrosoul X2 or rajas + epona or pyrosoul + epona... An other "good to know" ).

I don't get your "there is no gear past level 90", you can add gear yourself in motenten's spreadsheet and customize it the way you want it.
Anyway, the one I'm using has a lot of lv95 gear, has been updated october the 14th if I recall.

To get back to your questions now, are you asking for gear outside or inside abyssea? As I'm sure you already know, you're probably gonna need different setups.
Inside abyssea stuff like STR tiers and accuracy won't matter, outside it's a different issue.
What are you fighting outside? Which food are you using? How much acc you need?
Depending on this ACC gear might be better in several slots.
There are instances were stuff like Elemental Gorget and Elemental Belt are gonna beat stuff like Beir Belt+1 and Rancor Collar, for example.

Going more into specific and your earring: If Bruiser brings you up a h2h tier, it's gonna be moderately better than Aesir, if you need acc, Kemas is gonna be better than both.
So, unless you're acc capped: Kemas > Bruiser (if it brings you up a tier) > Aesir.
It has to be noted that at level 95 if you have 8 h2h merits you're gonna be at 397 skill, just enough for Bruiser to count. Thinks will get messed up if you use Faith Torque.

As for neck slot: Rancor is gonna be better outside thanks to the fact it also has acc+6. Were it just 5% crit other options might have been better, but gladly it ALSO has +6 acc Faith is a close next especially if it brings you uo a tier and Cirque is nice as well, so Rancor > Faith > Cirque.

Feet now: Usukane, Savateur's and probably even Aurore and Enkidu are gonna be better than AF3+2. You're at 24% haste without, that's a huge loss in DPS (both inside and outside Abyssea).
Usukane should be the winner here, slightly above Savateur's I think. If "your dps is lower" you probably configured your parser the wrong way, or just eyeballed stuff. Please use the spreadsheet or get a larger sample in your parser if you want to test again, and you'll see Usukane easily win over AF3+2

Back: Pantin and Vellaunus are pretty close but the second is ahead.


Talking about gear for your Weapon Skill now, assuming you're gonna use Victory Smite. Of course things are different if you're gonna use Stringing Pummel, normally STR will have less relevance and Att will count more compared to Vsmite.

Neck: Rancor is a clear winner here, at least inside Aby. Outside it depends. If those +6 acc doesn't acc-capp you then you might be better with Elemental Gorget.

Earring: Damagewise Aesir is better than Vulcan, but Kemas might perform better if you need the Acc.

Body: Toci's > Juogi +1 > Ocelomeh +1 > Juogi > Ocelomeh > Usukane > Cirque+2.
Usu and Cirque+2 are very close, the latter is better for SP of course. Difference between Juogi and Ocelomeh is almost non suxistant, Toci is quite ahead of Juogi+1. Juogi+1 and Ocelomeh+1 are both quite ahead of Cirque+2, at least for Vsmite.
Please re-test with larger sample data and in better testing conditions.

Waist: Beir+1 > Pipilaka. Pipi probably better outside aby if you need the acc. But then again Elemental belt might be better than Pipi as well, that's especially true for Stringing Pummel.

Back: Vellaunus and Pantin are once again very close. Pantin probably better outside because of the Dex (i.e. acc)

Legs: I know you don't have Usukane, but that's exactely why you should work on them. Doesn't take much these days. Can use Alcide+1 until you get Usu

Rings: Absolutely use Epona's in one of the two slots

About the gear, i know you can add them, but you usually add the gear you know and you can miss something (like i missed the Bruiser's Earring which looks very sexy now :P

And now that i did this topic and now that i had this answers, i wonder if there is something to do with the Bruiser's Earring, the faith torque and the Portus Annulet).

And ya, i agree about the fact you need different sets for inside/outside, and for capped/uncapped situation (kinda "not WV"/ "WV"), but i'm trying to build a base set atm, that i will adapt with the mob i fight ^^

For the feet, the spreadsheet disagree with you outside abyssea (inside its easy, usukane > savateur > aurore > af 3+2) and for a large amount : Full DPS = 102.632 with savateur, 102.539 and 105.751 with the AF 3+2 (with 24% of haste) and that new for me (i even dont know what is the exact amout you get with the full set bonus).

About the legs, ya i need the usukane badly, the problem is that i play in GMT. The NA runs are too late for me (/cry) and jps only play with jp... So it's kinda hard to do a salvage run >_<

You can easily add them and test them yourself. I did it some time ago for my MNK and wasn't particularly satisfied by the results.
For PUP at level 95 using faith AND bruiser brings no advantage, since they don't kick you up a second tier. So it's either one or the other, and between the two I'd go for Bruiser (since it's moderately better than Aesir) than Faith (since it's worse than Rancor). Do not underestimate Kemas though. Once more: if your acc ain't capped, Kemas is gonna be much better than even Bruiser.
Using Bruiser + Faith + Portus would grant you TWO additional damage tiers, but honestly I don't really think that's worth the loss of the other options.
It's easy to math out Rancor Vs Faith, a bit harder to math Portus Vs Rajas (because you'd put Portus in place of Rajas, not in place of Epona's of course) because of the Dex/Str tiers (they DO count outside of aby! :P) and because of the STP.
Lots of considerations to be made there, but overall my impression is that it's not worth.
The only worthy piece atm is the Bruiser's Earring which can situationally be a nice option.
(altough, even here, we're talking about very small difference from Aesir, and Kemas is situationally even better)

I dunno where the problem possibly is there, I doubt it's in our stats (you're taru, I'm galka).
Maybe you're using an old spreadsheet version with some mistakes? Because before posting my previous post of course I tested the numbers in the spreadsheet
Make sure to download the latest version with the updated formulae for level 95.

Tbh you might be able to solo Salvage with PUP/NIN at level 95, just get to friends to use the "DC trick" to let you in.
You could also find another person interested by shouting I'm sure Just dedicate yourself to that and you'll achieve it in a couple of weeks, it's really easy now, nothing compared to when people like me completed their usu sets.

For the earring, you are talking about which vulcan ? the vulcan earring or vulcan pearl ? or both ?

I was talking about the Vulcan's Earring, but I assume it applies to the Vulcan's Pearl as well.
Aesir Earring should still win, unless of course you have capped attack but I find that a very unlikely thing to occur

Gave it a quick look, some short suggestions I can give you meanwhile:

1) Do not use the "In abyssea? 0/1" atm. There are some issues (dunno where yet), contacted Motenten already. Probably it's better if you just manually turn off abyssea buffs (set cruor buffs to 0 and "none" for all 3 atmas)
2) Normally when you start working on a spreadsheet, I find for me it works better to disable all the buffs. No food, no haste, no berserk and turn on the Maneuver thing since you're lkely to be using at least one maneuver every 20 or 30 seconds (can set it up). Once you're done with this "starting point", you can add all the buffs you want one by one and check what changes
3) There is a big difference in strenght between me and you (about 18 or more?) those STR tiers are what probably changed the result with the Vulcan's Earring (+3) and Aesir.
4) there also seems to be some issue with accuracy in your setup. That's why Cirque +2 feet are better than Usukane in your setup (altough I still find it very hard to believe). If you give your character a big accuracy buff (manually or by enabling Sole Sushi) you'll see how Usukane will be much better. It's the same for bodies. The huge amount of accuracy on Cirque+2 makes it better in your current setup. But if you add Sole Sushi (which you shouldn't be using :P It's just an example to minimize the number of variables) you'll see how there is a huge difference between Juogi+1 and Cirque+2, and the order list becomes exactely like the one I told you.

So basically, if you're fighting something not incredibly evasive, the tier list is gonna be more or less like the one I told you.
If you're gonna fight something REAAAAAALLY evasive, just eat a Sole Sushi, use Aggressor or use a second setup with different gear (higher focus on acc)


Oh before I forget, it seems I was wrong with Epona's, which I didn't even test I just assumed it was better than 2 pyrosoul. Sorry about that!
