Name collision with server merge

I'm originally from Ramuh, and my name was Misha. When Ramuh merged with Bahamut, I had to change my name. This burns me up so much because I really like my character's name.

But the worse part of all, is that I never see this Bahamut native Misha on. I checked ffxiah.com, and the only history I ever saw was random purchases of items for 1g to 100g. Smells like an AH bot to me. So basically, the name of my character I've been using for years now has to take second priority to someone's AH bot. This absolutely disgusts me.

Lately I haven't seen any AH activity for that character at all. There's a chance this person stopped playing, or doesn't bother using their mule anymore. Even if this name became available again, there's no way for me to change my name back to Misha without doing some weird server hop tricks.

SE if you read these forums, I implore you to implement a feature to recover our old names! Perhaps some kind of waiting list? Or a way to make a request to the person for their name? I would be willing to pay this person gil to get my name back at this point, if it were only possible.

Please consider this. This issue could come up more often is servers are consolidated in the future.

SE should make it were if a character is inactive for a period of time, say 4-6 months, they should deactivate that character name and alow others to take it. But then leave thier actuall character alone so if they come back and someone else took there name, then they wouldn't have lost there character permenently, just there name.

MishaRamuh, there are a ton of conflicts involved with changing names. Assigning names on a first-come, first-serve basis prevents all of them. You just happened to arrive later on the server then the assumed AH bot.

Dimitrius, a character doesn't just have to be inactive, it would have to be DELETED. In which case the name becomes available under the current system anyway.
